Went down to Bama last week. Found out how my parents got screwed by their home health company.
My dad is a combat officer/chemist with a ton of secrets. He gets free home health.
All of my family's 30 person silver service went missing among other items. The head "nurse"/"security for the company stole it. Got caught on cam at pawn shop and still had items in her house.
Cops arrested her, she went to trial, and was let go with the verdict sealed.
We decided to do a OJ on her, doing civil suit.
Called a family member who is a lawyer with his dad. I told him what happened, asking for a reference for a lawyer near the p's, but hoping for outrage and action from a blood relative.
Got a reference to a school mate instead. Sis met with him and he sent his son. He was enthusiastic after a couple hours at the house.
Didn't hear anything for a month or more so sis called the office and identified herself to the secretary.
She was put on hold, and when the SUCKritary came back on, said "We're not interested" and hung up.
I found out last week that the owner was a lawyer, had the trial moved across the bay and no one was notified in my parents town. Since there was no one to testify against her, her story of the silver being a gift, wasn't disputed. She wasn't convicted and got to keep my parents silver she didn't pawn.

Sorry to hear about that. I just heard from my dad about how much of my grandma's stuff got ripped off by the home health aids before her passing 11 years ago.

I guess nowadays you've got to put very obvious cameras everywhere.

Doesn't matter if the trial is moved away from the town the crime was done, then not letting those with the evidence know where and when.

When I was there, I found unopened cases of medicine and preps stacked to the ceiling in several rooms.

Yeah, even worse.

I imagine it is an unregulated industry in Bammy. Small government at work?

Home health aides are some of the lowest paid people in healthcare. I imagine it's not uncommon for them to find ways to "supplement" their income.
