"The report exposes how top officials spanning the George W. Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations waged a deliberate misinformation campaign to conceal the total failures of the 18-year war in Afghanistan."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/...ments-database/ "The Lessons Learned interviews contradict years of public statements by presidents, generals and diplomats. The interviews make clear that officials issued rosy pronouncements they knew to be false and hid unmistakable evidence the war had become unwinnable. Several of those interviewed described explicit efforts by the U.S. government to deliberately mislead the public and a culture of willful ignorance, where bad news and critiques were unwelcome." ------------------------- Capitalism is based on the ridiculous notion that you can enjoy limitless growth in a closed, finite system. For what we spend on that stupid unwinnable war, we could have had M4A, free college, and probably come close to ending homelessness. When people say we can't afford those things for Americans, what they mean is that we have the money, but they would rather spend it on war. And don't even get me started about the killed and maimed. Was that 10% discount and parking spot at Lowes worth it?
