Remember seeing those July water temperatures in the mid to upper 90's? Sombrero reef is completely dead and others too:

There is one reason nothing was done about this years ago. That reason is the Republican party.

Exactly how could the Republicans have stopped this?

In the 1980s, the staghorn and elkhorn coral populations declined by 97% due to white band disease, which kills the coral's tissues, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
So, Republicans should have invented a cure to white band disease?

White band disease was a previous event that made a huge dent, likely caused by anthropogenic nutrient loading from agricultural and sewage runoff.
This year's massive and unprecedented bleaching event was caused by heat.

Yeah, a 97% dent. Everything else is irrelevant. Surely you are not saying that Republicans could have done anything to affect the water temperature this year. If you are, tell us what they could have done.

The democrats were way too moderate in their policy proposals.
There really was no chance for the "radical" changes needed to become policy anyway.

Exactly. There was nothing that could have been done. NMot even radical changes would have made an ounce of difference.

Addressing climate change required a global initiative, like we did for CFCs.
It could've been done.
We had the facts and knew the solutions half a century ago.

We also could've managed sewage and agricultural runoff much better.
To this day, nearly all wastewater in the Keys is injected in shallow disposal wells and FL continues to allow harmful agricultural and urban landscape practices.

China and India were never going to shut down their economies by doing away with fossil fuels. Nothing we could have done about that, short of nuking them. Should certainly treat wastewater better though.

The GOP cannot stand the US leading by example. So what if China and India dont bother with it. We cannot control them and we cannot let their indifference control us.

CFCs and acid rain are fake communist myths to destroy America just like the greenhouse effect.

People care about things like coral reefs and such right up until the prevention measures equal the slightest personal inconvenience.

Yeah, let's move all our industry to China and India to take advantage of deregulation and slave labor then blame them for our pollution.

BTW: China generates almost twice as much wind power as the USA and provides about 1/3 of the world's solar power, outpacing us in converting to alternatives.
India is ramping up renewables quickly too.

They have about 6x more coal plants than we do. And, they are not very clean. Nothing any Republican could do.

It was Kissinger and Nixon that did that. So it is very much something that Republicans did.

So, Nixon killed some of the remaining 3% of these corals? He should step down.

Nixon killed public confidence in the executive branch of the US Government. I wouldn't put it past him to kill some corals while he was it it.

Keep manufacturing in the US. A GOP name has been at the head of every outsourcing law ever dreamed up. So yes, they could have done something.

To solidify my point, you believe man has nothing to do with Global Warming, correct?
