Is it just me, or are there no fish out there anymore.
I can't seem to catch crap, not even nibbles.
All I want are a few whiting or something.
It used to be so easy....

Where are you fishing, what are you using for bait, and is it only whiting you are trying to catch?

Been seeing a lot of fish ambushing in the troughs and sandy sports between the rocks here, and crap hitting the top outside when I am surfing. Seems to be plenty of action around snook/tarpon/mackeral/etc wise anyways.

I havent tossed a pompano jig in a bit though, so I cant speak about that. The whiting hit them too.

I fished the park at the end of Eau Gallie a couple weekends ago, and the water was super pretty and only managed a few blues on shrimp.

I agree I remember not even too long ago shrimp wouldnt last 5 secs before getting jumped on by whiting.

Up here in Jax the beach seine guys(legally) rape the heck out of whiting, they paddle out a dingy and horseshoe a big chunk of surf and haul in hundreds....

I like eating whiting, and it always used to be easy to get few
But I just want to catch something I can eat, haven't seen any pompano, drum or sheepshead either.
Don't care to eat blues.

I have tried a lot of places from Sat beach to Mel beach, tried shrimp, clams, fleas.
Squat.

Haven't tried jigging lately, surf fishing for me is best a lazy thing, throw out three bottom rigged lines and sit back, drink beer and wait.

I haven't caught much locally lately.  Daytona has been good on the other hand.

I've heard that it has been a lot better in general a few miles up the beach, wonder what that is about.

I always liked Mel Beach south-> Floridiana and spanny house because the deep trough is usually in close and fish run up and down it.

Playalinda is good in that aspect too but was never worth the drive.

Harbor Heights neighborhood has produced pomps but last time I fished they were dredging Canaveral channel and not sure if coincidence but only got blues.

For some reason my buddies always used to get a couple snook each year at 2nd south or lori wilson??

.....no idea why but they always out fished me LOL
