nice.  a guy I fish with here used to live in J-ville and tells me about fishing "the ledge".  Sounds like an awesome setup.

Yea it is a great fishery and actually a pretty easy productive way of fishing as you cover a ton of water so usually get a couple if your lines in at dawn.....but it is EXPENSIVE!!

The lures, rigging, rods, reels, ect are all very pricey and you burn a tonnn of fuel.

Often we dont go all the way to the ledge, but any structure around the temp break.

Some guys next to us got 4 with two in the upper 80lb range.

Nice! They were late this year, I had some friends go up in January and they got skunked. Vermilion Snapper saved the day.

Dang thanks, will do!

My friend went out last sunday and caught four from 30-45lbs and a nice african pompano jigging a wreck on the way in.

Those african pomps seem to be pretty thick, with several catch reports coming in off the the bigger wrecks around 120-140' on jigs.

Still hoping to get my first.

I've been on the boat when they were landed (AP), but I have yet to add one to my personal list. One day my fish will come.

#me too.....

I've even gaffed one, but never caught one myself.

going out tomorrow, lucked into a vacant spot on a charter with some work nerds....probably heading to the ledge to troll for some early mahi, blackfin, and wahoo. I am bringing my jigging rod, some buckatails and metal in case we stop on the way in to try for a cobe or AP!
