Wife is having 6 girls in town for "ladies weekend" so I am evacuating for 2 days (Feb 6-8) and got lucky enough to score a campsite at Longpoint Park. One of girls is bringing her husband so he is rolling with me. I'm taking a canoe and plan on working the river side of the inlet. Of course I'm gonna load up on the live shrimp but wondering what bait has been working and what is biting? Any help greatly appreciated.........
PS: wife promised they would have the bra and panties pillow fight AFTER I get back.

For your canoe expeditions, the bigger trout will move onto the flats if it stays warm. If cool moves back in, fish the shrimps deeper along the channel edges.

Inlet itself is kinda in transition time with the warm spell and as of late, it's more summer than winter, think snook and Reds more than Blues and flounder. It's about time for the Pilchards and Herring to move through, so bring a castnet just in case.

i havnt been down there lately but as cole said live shrimp under a cork and or on a light jig head along the deeper mangrove shorelines should get a variety, also rubber tail jigs if the little fish are stealing all your shrimp(or if you catch a pinfish throw it back out under the cork!).

never fished long point but have done ok on little snook and stuff north of there in the "honest johns fishcamp" canals and also south a litttle bit in the pelican island area.

Usually the people working at whiteys bait shop can give out a few tips too if you tell them what you are trying to catch with the canoe etc.

not sure but could be some pomps on the beach spanish house has a nice steep trough that holds if they are around!

Damn, you deserve it.

The water temp is coming up fast, if you luck out with a front coming through, it might be snook fest.

Are they getting ready to dredge the inlet? Saw a barge inside the inlet today.

It's operational now and is supposed to run until May. The sand dump line is way the hell down the beach....for now.

I haven't been doing much inshore fishing lately, sold my pathfinder and bought an offshore boat, hope you score and have a good unwind, I did the same in the early 80's!

Last few inlet outings have been no good for me. Not sure if that dredgy thingy is messing up the water, annoying the fish. Been doing better on the beaches here in N/Central Brevard.

if the cat was ever in the bag, those dredge buoys could be holding tripple tail!! Word on the street was when they were around the port there were a ton of fish

People are the biggest obstacle in fishing. I always tell my family, friends or whomever that interfering in the legal harvesting of fish is illegal (which is true). Don't get in my way! hahah

Yep, saw it on Tuesday. It must have been a slow day because there was on about eight people on the north jetty just before dark. Water looked pretty good too.

Sand pumping is over. Water is beautiful, but not many fish. We got two small snook and a chunky Mangrove. There might be more snapper, but the only bait I could find were large Mojarra, which the snapper could maul, but not eat and that snook had no interest in. We fish right next to a guy with Spots and he caught several to 20+ pounds and we managed on 20 incher. Go figure.
