Sector 9, I recommend looking into permaculture. For example planting sweet potato or lemongrass near banana plants will help keep the soil moist and also provide beneficial protection from insects. Sweet potatoes are kicking ass here and are hard to kill they provide nice ground cover and have beautiful flowers..1/2mile from the beach. Good luck.
