What do you all do to keep your fruit from getting eaten? I have been placing strawberry containers on the fruit but I have limited containers. Seems like the little bastards are happy biting every other fruit.

yup , started the thinning out earlier this year...22 pellet, get them in in mid AM around 9ish, they seem to be very active early at sunrise down low on the ground, then as the AM progresses they start to move to higher ground and that when I catch them usually coming down the fence line to hop over to the trees. In the PM they are no where to be seen in my area. Many mornings I'll sit quietly w/ coffee watch for any movement in the tree line. Be careful, a high powered pellet goes right through them so you have to consider the neighbors

I use a daisy BB..... utterly useless. Bastards are as forgetful as fish. I can pop them repeatedly and they keep coming like zombies. Only satisfaction is watching the little bastards jump and run after popping the chit out of them. BUT THEY COME BACK.

As I am surrounded by neighbors, I guess upping the caliber and making squirrel dumplings are out of the question.

ARGH!

Maybe a fence around the tree and a jack russel terrier! Seriously, I tried the pellet gun and must have killed 100 of the damn things and they kept coming! I got maybe 1/10 of the fruit! So pissed!

^^Outside cats (spayed, shots, etc.) , mine have taken down many tree rats, keep the claws on they will go up the tree after them. Problem is now since the Coyote's have moved onto the barrier island I have already lost one. My Mango season is a bust...stupid Hail storm.

For the record- I am ok with the eastern box turtles and our sulcatta tortoise enjoying my mango- but thats after they drop to the ground......! All others have the wrath of Daisy on their ass!

btw, I've been eating rosigold mango the past two weeks. Good year for them. However, the rest of the trees and it looks to be a down year for mango.

Timely thread and I was wondering the same thing. What about trapping them and relocating or other means? I am not against the pellet gun either.

Put moth balls in old yogurt container with holes top 1/4 only. lets out smell without getting wet or draining into tree or soil. has kept the little buggers away.
