Do you folks use pruning spray on lets say a 50 year old mango 40' tall
who just received a serious haircut.

They can get sunburned. Not a bad idea. No expert though. I wouldn't just out of sheer laziness.

A few months ago I had a 30 foot tall lychee cut down to a 5 foot stump. It never got sunburned and has flushed out again.

I think the expert advice is don't. I have Prof. Ed Gilman's (UF) tree pruning textbook, so can check.

IFAS does not recommend using sealant. Tons of links saying to not use it -
