Inlet closed yesterday. I felt it in my throat and had a little cough, the walked across the street to check the surf and blammo. Is this going to be the missing variable for this Saturdays good wind and little bump? I don't think I have ever lived somewhere so finicky. Gots waves, bad wind. Gots good wind, no waves. Gots good wind and swell, too high tide. Gots swell, wind, tide...the missing variable is?????? air/waterborne irritant. Florida is a great place to raise a family and own a house.... but its a surfer purgatory.

I fished the inlet last night. Thought I could suck up the minor irritation but it definitely feels like I have cold-like symptoms now. I definitely underestimated it's effects on humans

without all the humor replies, does anyone know what happened to the .5% tax that was voted in with the last election that was supposed to go to cleaning up waterways?

Agreed DaHui, it's one of the circles of surfer hell. After almost 20 years of living here, I have finally had enough. Give me a ticket to an aeroplane...aint got time to catch a fast train.

A good portion of the 1st tax went to Space Coast United's split with USSSA to resurface the complex in Viera with the latest turf on the planet (to use a Pottzizm). I think the muck removal is still in the science phase being spoke to and receving alternate ways of doing it. I don't think funds have yet been allocated from wherever yet.

Ratty Too Fatty, I'll definitely write ya from the island. You'll find it on the beach in a bottle, buried in a massive mound of Sargassum! We'll have plenty of time to share IPA's before that happens though.

They de-mucked the Cocoa Beach canals and several places slightly farther south.

I played on the turf a few weeks ago, that will be my one and only time.

Bump^^ what's the red tide situation at your local beach? Sebastian Inlet to Ft pierce inlet is quite bad (stopped at various spots to assess) Lots of dead fish and was definitely noticeable in the air. Coughing, burning, sneezing, etc.

Indi area report - Lunch yesterday looked very fun but No one in the water and no one on the beach, just a few cars at Paradise Beach. So bummed to get home, sun screen, rush across to empty shoulder hi lines @low tide but just could not get pass the coughing and could see the red tide in the waveface. I hear that the fish kill has hit Paradise Beach today, dead fish everywhere , so I guess it is getting worse..Remember to keep your dogs off the beach during this event! Heading North Friday to hopefully get away from it.

The muck dredging is a waste of money. They need to address all these lift stations that keep spilling raw sewage by the hundreds of thousands of gallons.

Surfed playalinda this past weekend and into the southern part of nsb and no sign of red tide in those areas.
