Research shows that this has been brought up before, just wondering who has been getting great service , price, and quality since the large amount of roof claims due to the hail storm. Anyone want to share recommendations for both Shingle and Metal? Got a decent quote with Andrews Roofing for shingle..not sure who to contact for metal. Also, I would like to do Hurricane strapping, expensive and a pain due to cutting away the plywood to get to the trusses...anyone also have experience with a great Roofing contractor to retrofit hurricane straps while re-roofing? Are the hurricane straps worth the cost to hopefully lower the Windstorm rate?...Need to check w/ Citizens to see what (if any discount I could get). Thanks in advance for any replies.

Roofs,Haven't been around long enough. We strapped down trusses on three of our homes over years.

Must be living in the same type of home. Not enough room in the attic to access the strap points, gotta cut out the hard board in the overhangs to get to truss, then restore afterwards. Messy and labor intensive. Still looking at other options, if there are any

No sense getting new roof if u don't strap it down.
Yes it is good, necessity and code but you don't
Have to cut plywood to get to it.
There is another way. You can attack the belly
Of the beast from bottom up not top
Down.

isnt the easiest way to start strapping on a existing building is removing the soffit and fascia? Heard simpson strong tie makes the best stuff for strapping

I was about to say - when they redid our roof they did it from the bottom. And we got the architectural shingles on the advice of the roofer. I'm interested in your opinion of the metal roofs - my daughter has one in KY, but there isn't so much issue with wind up there, either. She has more issue with snow (not too bad, but it does slide off there pretty easily)

Ours is a standing seam put on in 03, saved the house from a brush fire and no damage since with the storms.
