Roll call for tax DIYers? Might as well ask how many surf without a leash. haha. Mine: 2 earner, middle class, kids grown so no extra exemptions, effective tax rate about 11%, calculated as tax (1040 line 16) / gross (line 8b). Not too onerous. And, for the record, when it's relatively small and not crowded, the leash must go.

Not yet. We're DINKs. Decent income. Cheap house with low property tax. Standard deduction. Make too much to deduct the loan interest on the Mrs' MASSIVE med school loans. We get hosed pretty good.

2017: 1.8%
2016: 1.7%
