http://www.npr.org/2021/09/09/...g-ecigarettes-smoking

>>A monumental set of decisions is expected Thursday from the Food and Drug Administration that could reshape the tobacco industry for years to come by limiting, or altogether blocking, the sale of millions of e-cigarette products.

Though the FDA has long regulated the marketing and sale of traditional tobacco products like cigarettes, the agency had long not required the same scrutiny of vapes, allowing a market to flourish.<<

It's a testament to the tobacco lobby that they have been able to sneak vapes in as a safer alternative to smoking. It's free basing nicotine with candy flavors. It's like they were designed for kids. Highly addictive, flavored, dangerous from a health perspective and up to this point, totally unregulated. I guess we shall see what happens today.

I think the smart thing to do would be leave "vapes" themselves alone but ban nicotine as a dangerous ingredient. Then the kids can puff away on candy flavored steam without the damage.

The term "popcorn lung" comes not from the shape of nodules in the lungs but from it first occurrence which was an Orville Redenbacher popcorn factory. Nicotine is relatively harmless except for the addictive component.
What is really bad is the candy flavored steam made in some basement with unknow ingredients..

Nicotine has some pretty nasty cardiovascular side effects.

"Candy steam" shouldn't include diacetyl or any other known toxic ingredients.

Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor. That's why it causes heart disease and many other ailments. Freebasing any drug means the delivery and effect are almost instant, which is the strongest and fastest way to addiction.
