Went to bed at midnight. I miss the old days when they started at 1 pm and the teacher let us listen to it on our AM radio (if we had an ear plug). We would race home to catch the last few innings on TV. Evening games suck. Just like the football championship, TV ad dollars rule the game. Most kids have no interest in baseball and the game is not building a future audience with games after their bedtimes. Everything is for short term gain these days, with few considering long term.

Yes, they were great times, Burry. I grew up here and we played some form of baseball (baseball, wiffle, stick, etc depending on how many showed up) from the time pitchers reported thru the Series, then a couple of months of football. The Series was the highlight of the year. I had a few teachers over the years that had a TV, but, not many. Mostly it was "bring your radio with an earplug and you will be allowed to listen to the game". Even the teachers knew it was so important that we needed to adjust for 10 days. We lived for our teams. Dodgers because they trained in Vero for me. Then I added in the Colt 45s/Astros, but they never gave me anything except spring training. I had a family friend that played for the Dodgers in the 50s/early 60s and went to the 45s in the expansion draft in 62 (and stayed as a coach and finally manager thru the 80s). I NEVER paid for a spring training game until the 90s. Great times (but, I repeat myself).

As a die hard Rays fan, it was hard to pull myself to cheer for Boston, but with Steve Pearce (a Lakeland native) I had to do it. Congrats on phenomenal season and great series. Stoked for Pearce and his family, definitely deserved the MVP.

(Now we need him to come back to TB)
