Head of CDC got in front of the cameras on February 25th and said "It is going to be bad" and elaborated that everybody should prepare to be disrupted with closures, stay at home orders, etc... That set off a right wing media shitshorm of conspiracy theories about the thing that is nothing more than a common cold that is being weaponized by the media against Trump. His own CDC said it is going to be bad and he and the entire GOP spent weeks pretending like we should just ignore it and that all the epidemiologists stating otherwise were part of a worldwide left wing conspiracy to attack Trump and Bolsonaro.

So the right wingers keep insisting the this thing is at worst as bad as H1N1. H1N1 killed 13,000 in the US in a year. At the current infection rate Covid will probably kill into the 5 digits in April. You think our medical systembhas the beds and vents to handle that? You realize that the 98% survival rate requires vents? Do you know how sick you are when you get put on a vent? I don't think they do based on what I read in The Federalist Papers today.
