There's been a coupe moments, but pretty dull for the most part. Never really happened last year either.

In 35+ years of living here I cant remember a slower fall. Last year at this time we had that brutal red tide and fish kill. Stoked thats not around again!

I find the total lack of mullet terrifying. This can't have good repercussions.

Saw a few mullets last night at the Light. Then I saw a little Spinner shark charge past me looking for them.

still quite a few up in Jacksonville, off the beach and in the ICW. I think the hurricane pushed some down and then since that we havnt had any good NE chills so they are all still hanging or moving slow.

Should be some heading your way still just maybe not in big groups

That's nice to hear, it is still summer after all. Hopefully, a nice cool north breeze will get them moving.

We've had way too much south wind, dirty and warm.

Whiting make great fish and chips. So do all of the drum type fish and sheepshead. Been slaying them all on high tide. Just no pomps yet.

I fished next to Larry on Saturday, no pomps but some big whiting and trout. Funny to pull in two 16-18" trout at a time on dead shrimp lol.

That's awesome, you fished with the legend. Lol double trout on pomp rig, they might kinda fight then.

He fishes all day everyday and I never see him so was nice to finally catch a glimpse lol.

The trout unfortunately were no match for the 12', I hate using that big tackle but the current was super strong

Luckily, down here, I do not need anything over 9'. The main rod I use an 8' medium rod. It handles 4 oz lead and gets me into the first trough. Small keeper size surf fish still feel like a decent fight. When there is no surf I drop down to a light 7'6" and 1 to 2 oz lead. I think I'd find it boring with that big surf tackle and it might feel like collecting meat lol.

it does take some fun out of it but my pompano catches are always on the long rod on the second bar except for maybe the first 30 mins of daybreak where I have caught them in close.

the best in catching them in the river or port on the little goofy jigs!
