My buddy Kayd just kicked cancers ass and we celebrated by getting him on the water for the first time!!! After a long battle with brain cancer Kayd finished his final treatment last week so we took him out for his first surf session and his first helicopter ride over Cocoa Beach.

Kayd is from Idaho and his family reached out to me looking to get him on the water following his final treatment in Florida. During the peak of his cancer he lost his sight, hearing, had short term memory loss and many other issues due to the tumor putting pressure on different areas of his brain. The treatment was a success and killed the cancer/tumor which slowly but surely brought him back to normal, but he is still retraining his eyes as they are currently crossed and he sees full double vision. Every day he covers the opposite eye and forces that single eye to focus on what he is seeing and eventually it will correct itself BUT for this session Kayd was fully surfing double vision!

Lastly, when Kayd was at his worst one of the only things he could remember was that he loves the music by pop artist Post Malone and when his team caught wind of his condition they sent a video of Post Malone doing a shoutout to Kayd.
