Hobie "50th Anniversary Hobie Alter Model". Never waxed. Still has sales labels on it
9'6", 18 inch nose 23 1/4 hips, 14 inch tail. 10 ounce Volan top and bottom. 8 ounce knee and tail patch (around fin box). Glass leash loop. 9 1/2 inch fiberglass Hobie fin. Serial number 86 of only 100 made. Signed by Hobie. Shaped by either Mark Johnson or Terry Martin.
Off of Hobie's WEB site at the time in regard to the resurrected "Hobie Alter Model": In May 2000 legendary shaper Hobie Alter stepped back into the shaping bay to create this classic shape. Reproduced to his exact specifications - 9'6" - 18" - 23 1/4" - 14". The board is glassed with 10oz Volan cloth top and bottom, 8oz knee and tail patch, and a classic glass leash loop. Fin set up: single 9.5" Hobie fin or wood glass on fin by request.
After I purchased this board in 2002, I contacted Mark Johnson at Hobie. He told me that they only made 100 of the "50th Anniversary" boards and that either he or Terry Martin shaped them, and then Hobie would sign them.
