I grew up here, Surfing RC's and Seagull I have absolutely zero presence and zero name in the surf industry/community and at this point I am not really trying to pursue gaining either of those things. I just love to surf and enjoy seeing edits from the "no-name" east coast guys because it is something I feel we can all relate to. This past year, I moved from Satellite Beach to Brooklyn to pursue a career in the city and while I did do well getting my career started, I only got to surf 20 or so times... It can be an unforgiving place. After enduring New York's harsh winter of 2018, I looked south and made an escape to Puerto Rico for the first few weeks of 2019. I am curious what everyone thinks... Is this clip good enough for me to try and get it published by a surfing publication and if so, does anyone have any connections? Either way I hope you all will enjoy and relate to this clip in some way or another, SIXTH BOROUGH CHEERS!

Nice. Best wishes at videography in the big city. We're living in a rapidly expanding video universe. The NY-PR connection was a big deal when I was a kid.

Nice. You freaked me out with the mumble rap in the beginning, but the Future islands was a good save. Crisp and clean editing too, but I like to see some full length rides included as well.

I would have loved to put more full length clips in the edit but The surf was pretty marginal and generally the left at middles is a one maneuver wave. Hopefully I can get some better surf this spring in NYC

Good - Seeing the cold surfing and then you could feel how much more free the kid was in the warm so that was a nice touch. The beginning and end had some good non surfing scenes and you could have continued that in the middle surfing part. Having young AOC in the movie was good.

Suggestions - Music a bit punchier, what Cole said - showing take-offs now and then mixxes it up too, what happened to the cat in the sack?

Two shakas!! Not the best conditions for PR but way better than here and made me wanna Go SURF. I swear I saw some Middles, Wildos, and other familiar spots in there too. Good for you, thx for sharing.

haha yep alot of this was filmed on the middles left which is why it is a lot of 1 maneuver waves. And the conditions were a let down for sure but still nice to get into trunks : )

My .02. Anyone who surfs that good after moving to the city and only getting in a limited number of sessions is a talent to be reckoned with. When's the last time you did a contest? Might wanna pursue a different career path that puts you closer to the surf. And did I catch that the girl did the filming? If so, your done. Pretty and can shoot a camera? Jackpot bro. Cheers!

Yea Ben! Miss seeing out in Sat Bch killing-it, but good to see you ripping as hard as ever! That clip is insane! Definitely worthy of getting published. I can't help there, however, as I'm just an old, no-name guy who also grew-up surfing in Satellite Beach and who still loves to surf, LOL. BTW...you may want to consider getting into some QS events...you could do very well!

Definitely enjoyed it, only things I could say is I didn't like that the first clip was him falling. Crazy how good some people are these days, you'd(is that you surfing?) be on the ct if you were surfing like that 15 years ago.

yes, its me and yeah I thought it was a cool looking air because of the inversion/framing but because I didn't pull it I figured that the title shot was a good spot for it. And that is the nature of sports and progression. It has gotten easier to be "good" due to equipment, the economy, technology, etc... But the whole field has risen to a higher level. For instance, I have surfed 3 local pro level contests in FL and gotten last place in my first heat every time... This is just to say that EVERYONE surfs good now.

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone!! As far as contests go I have never not gotten dead last place in a 'professional' contest so I do not think it is really something I am going to pursue but I love surfing and getting clips so I will for sure keep doing this

Your board designs do look more styled for air surfing than rail surfing. They kind of fight you on the roundhouses and that could be a scoring issue in contests. You have the air stuff down, as well as positioning for speed and power, so a coach like John Holeman might be able to work out the kinks and get you onto the podium with some cash in your pocked.

..or not. If you are happy turning heads in the lineup, keep doing what you are doing. I know I'd be looking over my shoulder, wonder what in the hell you were going to do next.
