There is a group of boats taking relief supplies leaving tomorrow from the grant ramp. If you can donate anything especially non-perishable food, diapers and water/formula, extention cords and anything usually needed for survival, also hammers and nails for repair. Drop off point is Rt,1 motorsports on US-1 in Malabar!

Thanks to all who donated, about 5,000 lbs of supplies were delivered and to an appreciating group of Bahamians!

Good Job!

"I remember South Africa in the late 70's, sleeping on the beach at J-bay, smoking ganja with the blacks. On weekends we'd go to the pub in East London to drink beer and fight with the Afrikaners. They liked to fight, I liked to fight. It was a good time"

For those with access (paywall), this Washington Post describes the extremes of wealth in the Abacos, where the wealthy, with their elaborate enclaves, were served by lots of Haitians living in an "informal community" called The Mudd. The upscale areas were seriously damaged; some Mudd residents who worked there got to take refuge. Many Mudd resident's couldn't or wouldn't evacuate. Quite a lot didn't survive.

We'll not know how many until all the rubble is removed.

The only relief adds I see are local for Ocracoke. They got scoured. They only HAD one road. There shouldn't have been any loss of life considering how long it took to get there and the lack of elevation. I'd flee if I lived there. I had to get a tree top of my house. Poor me. Set up a fund Crankit

means take yer pick: keep it in nsr, start yer own thread, or don't be a dikk. Someone's trying to do a good thing. Thread derailments are not appreciated. Seen?

Wasn't trying to be Dikkish, sir. Just trying to keep the topic at the top. I'm not seeing any relief funding up here. Just how bad it was in NC. I haven't been to church since the storm, but I'm putting it out there if it hasn't already.
Sorry for being misunderstood.

They really need a lot of help since they can't flee to the Fla. And they are their own country

I found this if people want to help. I'd like to do the 2cnd but haven't had a vacation since 05.

Kinda looks like things are stirring up around these poor people again. My dad lives on the Mobile Bay and was freaking about the system brewing there. That's going west but seems all the power is being drawn towards ground zero. NOW is the time for thoughts and prayers.
