This is what is up at the next city council meeting December 4, 2019. If you are okay with this stay home, if not show up... BY REMOVING THE MAXIMUM STORIES A BUILDING CAN BE! Pandoras box is about to be opened, but hey after they kill the reef there will only be transplanted people here who never knew there was a reef here and want a 30 story condo. All without voter approval. They buried it pretty deep in their mumbo-jumbo.

Yes they did, which makes me question what they are trying to do.

We need to press them tonight on adding a max height of 85', which is still a lot. The way it reads now there is no max height and we know that will be taken advantage of in the future.

How'd it go? I'm assuming it passed, but it looks like the 85' limit was already included.

Going forward, we have to be vigilant, as various committees and individuals are conjuring up ways to get around the charter amendment that locks down building heights to their 2006 levels.

In particular, they wrote in the Beachcaster a few months away that they were considering an additional 10' (to 45') along the west side of A1A.

It went as expected, I did ask that they confirm this was only for the PUD where the old base housing was and that these limits would not bleed out of that area to the rest of Satellite Beach. They all said that would not happen, fingers crossed. The conversation about raising the heights on the west side of A1A in the commercial area has to go to voters, and I think they know that, again fingers crossed, but will be watching. The biggest disappointment to me is Frank Catino did not take the 'against" side of the Mid Reach. He grew up here and knows that that reef is vital to all of us. I can go to Lums today and that beach looks the same as it did in 1970. The reef is our best defense against storm surge and they are going to bury it, just makes no sense.

SS1965... Thank you for your efforts!! And you're spot-on re: the beach at Lums (and the rest of SB for that matter)....its the same now as it was when I first starting surfing there in the '70's. Classic example of government waste and ineptitude...F-you very much ACOE, Brevard County and all those responsible for this atrocity!!

I just can't get over this. We have a mayor who grew up here, a city manager who claims to be an environmentalist and council members who act like they care but allow the Mid Reach to happen?? City manager hates it when I say she speaks out of both sides of her mouth, wonder why when it is so obvious.

SS1965, I'm not a Sat Beach resident but have been following your threads. Thank you for making the time and effort to go. I appreciate what you are doing to preserve our beaches and community.

Thanks Bamboo but I imagine the efforts will be futile.

Dude, I would have bought you endless beers at the ORB fest had I known. Thanks for sticking up for the ocean and the people who really live for it, not just the view.

Pompano, I would not attend that City sponsored bs for all the tea in China. How can they have a Reef Fest when they should be having a Reef Funeral! Our City Manager and Frank Cantino talk out of both sides of their mouth. Save the Lagoon Kill the Reef is NOT environmental stewardship. Thanks for the offer though
