Check your favorite wave models.
Looks pretty big for 4 days out. Onshore winds of course, but maybe glass off afterwards. .DISCUSSION... ...Significant High Seas and Surf Event Likely Late Week... Thursday-Friday...As the ridge axis slides away, a strong cold front will dig across the south on Thu, sending a northerly wind surge across the local waters early Friday. As the front continues southward, a tight pressure gradient will increase northeasterly winds up to 20-25 kts with gusts to gale force. Seas will begin to build quickly north to south on Friday up to 9-11 ft and up to 13 ft in the Gulf Stream. A Small Craft Advisory will no doubt be necessary late this week, with the potential for Gale products in the offshore waters. |

Plenty of swell at the Light this AM and the worst sandbars I've ever seen. And no, I'm not just bagging on it to keep people away, it truly sucked; 3 to 4, glassy and not a wave to be ridden from O-club to Hangars.
I hear some of the new sand spots are okay - Satellite, but that might be lies. ------------------------- I was right. Edited: 02/17/2020 at 06:16 PM by Cole |

Cole, I surfed with a few friends at Coconuts yesterday and the day before. At higher tide pretty fun. No ditch, nice sandbar, a bit of dynamics to the beach there.

Cole, I surfed with a few friends at Coconuts yesterday and the day before. At higher tide pretty fun. No ditch, nice sandbar, a bit of dynamics to the beach there. I looked down there and wondered. Slater has a perfect bar at 1 foot, anything larger maxes out. lol ------------------------- I was right. |

A little Wabasso video. Youtube's processing rendered it unwatchable, so Vimeo.
The real news at Wabasso was the near lack of usable surf.

Cocoa Beach is looking kinda fun, but the paddle looks relentless. Four feet, plus some on the sets, but the interval is about as tight as as gets. 40 duck-dives to the outside, if you time it right.

BW at low to incoming was brutal paddleout. Lots of closeouts. Sat outside and got a couple of the sets that would crumble to let you in to get some speed to do something worthwhile.

So fun yesterday, guess I got lucky as it was not a hard paddle out just a long one, was able to ditch the full suit which was a bonus, good friends plenty of sets, open faces...Went out this AM early 650ish, was still real fun, couldn't tell from the beach but it was still solid head high sets on the outside, a bit soft due to the high tide but glassy w/ no wind (where was everyone?)...I think it is dropping and the wind is picking up ... 1st light was the call today. What's this next front going to bring?

Hoping for a repeat of yesterday with less size but NO indi was not working this AM on the outside, just capping and backing off...less water/more swell needed...BUT the waves that jacked up on the outside eventually made it to the shorebreak unbroken, so the shorebreak was real fun...really good if you are grom sized, nice sunrise..water a bit colder, back in the full suit, fun enough to start the workday...4 days of surf in a row, no complaints...Next up will be the Panhandle next week for any sizable surf (Head hi+ S Swell) water is usually much colder there this time of year (where's my booties, haven't used them inna' while) or maybe NSI for the short new NE swell event. Don't think S. FL will get any big Elephants headed S. on Thurs/Fri just baby ones.

Another round of fun at the nearby local shorey this weekend (I hope), not sure if my friend will go again, he was kinda spooked from last weekend; made it but never got a wave, he just wanted to get back to land..It was a true Gale though , this weekend will be less size, bummer, darn high tide in early AM again which always makes a huge difference it seems. Waiting...
