all i can say is " #surfersgonnasurf " ...

Like the mental battle while driving 1 hour + to the beach, finding a random spot to park at while hoping and praying that your vehicle, cell phone, and wallet are all still in place and un-molested when your done with your magical ninja strategic strike surf mission DOES suck (And might i dare say that while this past Saturday's session that I had was definitely LACK LUSTER, I still had fun on a few close out shorebreak almost makeable deathpits) .

BUT .. I will say that "It is ALMOST worth it!"

We in all of Florida are SUPER wave starved surfers.. Id'e even bet monies that we may be one of the MOST wave starved area of surfers in the world (I'm only guessing)..

I cant front though.. I will probably be trying to be on it this weekend if the current forecast pans out. (Please don't hate on the in-landers, we just want to "get some" like the rest of you)

Been doing a lot of mind-surfing all winter, since this has been a mediocre one swell-wise

Might as well do the same for this

I got a call from my buddy on the OB of NC saying it's chest to heat and building. I told him to eat deep dark doo, because the popo have road blocks. Seems like there's an underground rail road that will hide you in the trunk.

When you are below the High Tide line, out in the water, it falls totally under state jurisdiction and the town and county have No authority to close the water down.

As in federal state of emergency. Though I would be interested to see what happened if someone entered the line-up by boat.

Yeah but what are you gonna do stay out there forever? The second you come in you'll have to walk on the beach and then they'll arrest you, especially if you ignore plainly and really quickly if you're dickish to them... and don't think Johnny law won't be waiting! If you know your surfing history their is a famous guy up who way back up north, Rhode Island I think or maybe MA, that tried to pull this off when they were cracking down on public beach access back 70s. People were pushing the issue due to homes being built all along beach and loosing access... Long story short he went to jail and the value of those homes went up way the F up and now they're pretty much wall to wall from NY upto Maine! So if you want guaranteed access to a session either buy one of those houses or get up super early DP before anyone else is awake and surf till they call you in and when they do play nice "ohh sorry officer I was unaware I'm really sorry"

-------------------------

get up early and go surf - it'll make that hangover go away and/or make the workday more tolerable :)

surfermic, you have a step father on a ventilator, and a wife with COPD/Asthma. What the world are you doing going against the new regulations, surfing when they say stay off the beach? Look in the mirror you bully.

I too thought of the boat drop off in the line up. Desperate for sure but even I am seeing the lives in the balance. I may just watch it through my car window from a good perch. There will be other swells and this will not last forever.

April 1, 1 p.m.: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issues an executive order to limit movements going into effect Thursday at midnight. Only travel for essential reasons will be permitted. This includes getting food from grocery stores, going to essential workplaces and seeking medical assistance.

"essential activities" That would include surfing for me but I don't think it will pass the current situation. Beach side residents will be the only surfers out on this swell. They might even patrol the beach on 4 wheelers. Cop told me that last weekend down in IRC.

this will vary for each county, some more rural than others. but let me tell you, when more and more cops become infected (several dozen are quarantined in tampa, on the rise in pinellas, 1400 in NYC...) i SERIOUSLY doubt that they're gonna be prioritizing kicking a few surfers off of the beach. hence why gov. desatan changed the 6 month rule for retired police and medical ppl to get back on the job. you really think they're releasing prisoners only to put more people (who have potentially been exposed) back inside? shit is hitting the fan and they're running out of wipes (double entendre)...just be sensible.

i believe exercise is considered essential. so walking, running, or riding your bike will keep you safe on the streets. surfing is a lot of exercise unless you are a bobber

The stay at home order is the new thing. I guess the main thing is all businesses and organizations must close- unless deemed essential. But I think travel to surf and parking along roadsides will much more scrutinized. A police officer could pull you over and say where you going? If you're on 95 and say surfing I could see some eye rolling going on.
