Hawaiian. Starts April, the wrong time of course. Go to Google Flights, MCO to Honolulu for April-May.

I'm seeing one-stops to Honolulu in March on United (obviously Basic with no bag, no nothing) for $383. That would work into a good fare with bags.
Hawaii has strict standards for coronavirus testing before arrival. They have a short list of trusted labs (Costco is included). Airlines serving Hawaii have arrangements for testing at airports. United at San Francisco charges $250. Perhaps not a bad deal to visit Honolulu without all the tourists.

Bags? Not a surfboard bag. Rentals are plentiful and cheap. Just need shorts and tshirt.

If I can get vaccinated, I'm there dude.

Swim fins for Point Panic. The testing mess might be worthwhile to avoid the crowds when vaccination becomes widespread. I think that may not be until June or July. It'll take until then for the Oxford-AstraZenica vaccine to pass FDA in the US and become available, even if they're injecting it in Britain today. Looks like Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be in pretty short supply.
I have a cheap ticket to England for late March, and am betting it'll have to be rescheduled for later.

...... hmmm.... what airline? Only bag I usually bring is a big backpack carry-on. I have a 6-6 and 8-0 over there (unless my buddy gave them away) but alot of airlines have lowered board prices so a shortboard may be in order

Prices can change super fast. Bear in mind that mandatory coronavirus testing can cost several hundred. Orlando airport is working on getting a Hawaii-trusted testing facility ahead of Hawaiian setting up its flights. Hawaii travel testing requirements are fussy. In Florida, it looks like Walgreens and CVS may not be useful, so the Costco spit kit may be the best option.

The state of Hawaii has their official list of accepted testers. There's fairly good options if you're traveling from California, but Florida's bad. And that spit test isn't terribly accurate, so I wonder what the chances are of a false positive.
I've got a trip to England scheduled for late March, but the betting is that it'll be postponed. I doubt that Americans will be allowed to travel widely, except maybe with vaccination certificates and testing, until late in 2021. I figure that a planned November trip will happen.

thanks for the update! Rates from JAX are good, but unspectacular (some shitty fly times) but this has the gears turning.... if anything a dangling carrot for me to get my lazy ass in shape

It's amazing that there will be direct flights to Oahu. I think the Orlando-Honolulu flights, I think twice a week, on Hawaiian, will be the first direct Florida-Hawaii service. So far, pretty expensive. It's a longer flight (10 hours) than going to London (8-9 depending on direction).

Great news! I have so many FF miles with Hawaiian. Never get to use them as they don't fly out of here.

SO much better MCO-ATL or MLB-ATL, then the long flight from ATL to HI. Will be using this route soon once things get better

One year I had flight that went: JAX to Chicago. Chicago straight to Maui. 30 min layover in Maui, and the gate rt next to it (small airport) was my flight to HNL. They lost my bag in Maui. lol

My first trip to Hawaii was routed MLB-TPA-LAX-HNL. United miles. What happened was that the plane tried to land at Tampa but fog didn't allow it, so we got a scenic flight to FLL (got to see the caladium fields near Lake Placid), where I was able to fly to LAX later in the day, then on to Honolulu the next.

You'll probably still have to be tested. It's not yet know whether the vaccination prevents transmission of the virus, as opposed to getting sick because of it Q&A's

Still attractive Orlando to Honolulu fares through April, rising in May and June, mostly United (Tue Dec 22, 1:30 pm)

If you check Google Flights right now, there's great offers from Orlando to Maui. United, Delta mostly. I don't see Hawaiian, whose lowest roundtrips (at their website) seem to be around $515 and mostly closer to $600. But nonstop is nice. Starting in March, and they should have testing at the airport.
My window is late March. Maui or Oahu? Haleakala is on the bucket list.
    Maui. Silverswords.

Booked Orlando to Maui, also (yesterday, Jan. 23) Bozeman, Montana from Melbourne on Delta yesterday, before Memorial Day. $276. Unbelievable.

Still good offers Orlando-Maui or Oahu, around $300, suddenly getting much higher in June. Covid testing has been set up at Orlando airport, but it's not yet accepted by Hawaii. It may be possible to get tested en route at Denver (NOT San Francisco). Testing is inside security.
