In my pre-surf sleeplessness (thx long Flaco now a part of my surfing vernacular) I thought this would be a swell to get back to our 2ndlight vizzie report that we used to have from various members.

**Feel Free to keep your secret spot secret if you want. Don't have to post name***

Most of the others spots if you have been on 2ndlight awhile then "if you know...then you know" or just state general area since we got fellow surfers from Miami to Jax on here.

Hopefully this will be a thread to look fondly upon in the future.

Great thinking! I have wondered the same thing as that was the whole reason I joined - like you - in 2006 ... the stoke. Swell incoming, where are you going, how is it, how was it, the whole 9 yards.

The key is the Stoke! The stoke Sunrise had.

I'll give you 3 guesses and the first 2 don't count where my first check point will be. We'll take it from there. 5 star Wed, Thu and Fri on MSW.

Since the topic has been brought up, which is always awesome, and I know it's in here somewhere if you search properly, but could you refresh our memories on how to upload a photo or two or three or four the easiest way on here. I've done it before, but it has been a long time, and I know it's a bit difficult unless they've streamline things and I am unaware, thanks so much. I know Dan used to post a whole bunch of pictures on here and I asked him one day how he did it and it kind of went right over my head, ha !!..: ))

Spectral energy density on the 1 miler is trending to the fat side:

41113 spectral density plot

Last night it was mostly a peak at 10 sec and some shorter period stuff.

Funky looking with the tide and wind this evening (Wednesday). Some decent sets, but you need a tow-in to make the sections.

Surfed satellite beach this evening and was tricky with the wind and chop but caught a handful that lined up and knocked the rust off and ready for tomorrow.
Swell has come in and was about head high.

Jbsurf - I have found there is know super easy way. I add them up a photo hosting site and think link them to the post on 2ndlight website.

Very good today up here in Volusia: this morning was clean, sets solid head high and breaking nice not closing. After work it looked like the size had increased but a bit of chop from the wind. I didn't get to surf after work as rainstorm but this evening can hear more power in the waves breaking loud! I think DP will be very good, then as swell peaks into Friday probably too much for many spots...

If you have the time to hunt the good ones, there is a great wave to be had, but as a whole this AM is so-so in Cocoa Beach. The wind from last evening has left it's mark and there are sets twice the size of the waves in the pics, so you will get a nice power rinse as you wait for the cleaner inside edges. Great? No. Fun, yes.

When the tide pulls out and if the wind cooperates, lunch time just might be a blast.

Throwing my lot in this afternoon. Just hoping the wind cooperates and some closeouts open up for me.

Same results for me just south of Dave's place; lotsa fun takeoffs but it was game over pretty quickly. Timed the paddle out pretty well though, it was lookin 50-50 from the beach but caught a lull.

After a great time yesterday, today kinda sucked for me. My surfing window was only in the early AM, and the wind was SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSW where I was at: North part of town without S wind protection. Still had a couple of good rides with a lil wobble. Better than any other day but was hoping it would have been as glassy as yesterday.

1:45 pm...Looks like wind is straight offshore now after that storm passed. Rifling judging from the cams. I'm outta here

Didn't like what I was seeing in town this a.m. so I went to the other side of the cape. Was smaller but fun if you got a good one! Shoulder to head high in south Daytona area. And yes whew child!! It was packed

Came back into SatBch for round 2 and was just as fun but way less crowded :-)

This kid Nohea?? got the stoke and wave count award. My wife was taking the pics and said he had caught the most waves out there and charging whether it was big or small ones.

Ah cool, that 1st pic from Cole looks like me. I surfed for 7 hours between 2nd street S and 2nd street N so I'm guessing that was near Minuteman Causeway. I was going to complain about how the waves seemed smaller than yesterday but that wave looks like decent size to me. It felt smaller, usually it's the opposite.

My small in Cocoa Beach was slightly off. I took a beating on the paddle out. The tide is getting to it and it's running off pretty fast. Yes there are waves, but it's typical hurricane stuff.

I hated to get out of the water. Lower tide at daybreak was doing something fun outside. Then it got shitty for a spell when the outside refused to break and everything inside wanted to close out. Then high tide wasn't all that big but the form was really fun. I kept finding inside bowly peaks that would last for a couple of sets and then move up or down the beach a notch. There were a few long lulls and a few multi multi wave sets. Most of my paddle outs were dry hair. One was caught inside on a 10 wave set that was dumping in waist deep water. Kind of had to wait that one out. Lots of open faces and a few that looked open that then decided to steal my lunch money. It was really good when I left to come get in front of this fing computer. Now on to the spread sheets.

Was fun until I got clamped on a closeout. I thought I was faster than I was but I was proven wrong. Had a couple good ones but as Cole said typical hurricane stuff but I would ride again with that being said. Natures Neti pot did it's thing so let the nasal drain begin!

Satbe from 8:30 to 11:30 was as good as it gets here. Daybreak it was closing out a bit, but then it just turned on. Myself, my buddy, and his youngest son were just trading waves on our peak all morning and stepping off on the beach on the better waves. Nice cover ups, numerous turn waves, and punchy. Just really really fun.

Different standards I suppose. To me, anytime I can surf 3 hours with decent sized long period swell, perfect wind, warm water, nobody else sitting on the peak but the three of us, and not have a single close out is about as good as it gets here for me. It was by no means all-time or epic, but it doesn't get much more fun for me.

Today on the other hand was small and crappy. Even got in my car for a change and drove south and it was't any better.

Catching whatever wave you want is far more tiring than sitting at the spot du jour and waiting in line for a ride. I wandered between three streets and managed quite a few good ones.

To the sup-er I got cross with for buoying me and taking the sets, I apologize, but thanks for the space you left me.

However, the afternoon sucked. We got some pub subs and by the time we were done carbing back up and paddled back out, the wind went onshore. We kept at it longer than we should of hoping the rain would push it back offshore. Nope. The wind did just go offshore a bit ago though, hah.

I'm hoping tomorrow will be the right angle if there's still swell in the water.

I had plenty of frontside bombs but it appears I am not beautiful or wearing a bikini. This bias is now noted (and appreciated).

I went North for various reasons. Basically epic surf and no crowd. This spot was passed over for overhead A frames at Anastasia.

I met Jim Mac in 1978. He was so much fun to be around. I used to try a lot of his tricks, my favorite was the somersault you started from the tail and finished off on the nose.

He was never the same after his wife left him for - you know who.
I was sponsored, like 400 others by her new hubby and I became his poster child of hate. Even though even Ke11y was sponsored by the same. He started being so critical of how I surfed it was impossible to be around him.

A year ago I met Riverman, a nice young parent who shared my same experiences.

Sad, but true.

P.S. OneBuck, I ditto your remarks. I have extended the proverbial olive branch to this one so many times to no avail. He is broken.

I was with my kids (two tiny little gals) long ago and at 2nd light my crappy old Nissan truck bent the bumper on his van. I was bummed and he laughed and said no problem. He makes his opinion known but it's well thought out. Example, the reasoning he gave me and my friend about riding backwards was thought provoking.

And I was there, long before you arrived in Fla when he stubbornly rode a 2 foot wave behind a novice surfer at Apollo Building, now Slater Way, and he persisted to pressure the poor man before the guy pearled and his tail shot back at Jim and cut his leg open.
Any normal person would have rationalized that the guy of lesser ability should have been left alone.

Nope.

Jim drags the guy to the hospital to force him to pay his bill in the ER.

Ok, keep defending him. I tried for years.

Ask Mr. Reid. He, too, has suffered his wrath. I was there for that.

I can remember one time with tipper..... Down south Melbourne beach..kind of at a off beat spot..he was taking some pics (mean while we had surfed there MANY TIMES PRIOR)..he comes up talking all this shit how,now everyone is gonna know where this certain spot was,and how everybody and there mother would show up cause of that... Needless to say it was far from that,to say the least... Then again one time at the pier I remember him giving woody(cat fish kid)..a bunch of un needed ranting and bitching...heard that story from another member on here..... he sure seems to hold Dennis and a few chicks high up on the status clinger list from the looks of his site..but it is what it is.....he's cranky fucker... thats 4sure

We all need salty people out there. Try to refrain from bashing him so much. It's all water under the bridge. People go through different things and situations. His 16streets site is pretty good and I enjoy his photography. He was there at the beginning of it all and is just as opinionated as the next person and writes pretty good.

Rock on, when's the next hurricane swell?

Known Jimmy since 1960 (first guy I met when we moved into the neighborhood just south of what is now Pineda). He was a good guy, but, had a lot of mouth. Sounds like not much has changed.

We have sparred for decades and still remain friends. Holding anger takes too much energy from me.

RC and him are the Hatfields and McCoys of the wave riding world and for some reason that seems fitting to me.

I started surfing backwards as a novelty and then got good at it. On a mushy burger riding a log, it makes it very fun. Its like surfing by feel. I think its what happens when you get old, still surf and can't be bothered to learn airs. Spend enough time in the water and things like this happen.
