I saw a cool bucket one in the back of someone's car and can't find it anywhere, even the Amazon. I've found the bag style, but they are hard to clean, so I'm looking for the bucket.

I've been through that and all of it looks like cheap crap, I'm looking for something with a little more quality. The one I saw looked like a Vanlife style rig that could stand the Florida heat.

Circa '85 my brother (lives elsewhere) had something neat I haven't seen since, and I've been keeping an eye out for.. Probably came from somewhere in Europe - Maybe France.. Need to ask him.. We were windsurf fanatics in those days - he may well have got it through those 'channels'..

It was a flexible relatively thick very flexible rubber container, kinda pear shaped when 'full', but when empty would be more like a relatively flat cylinder about 18" diameter and a few inches high..

You would fill up with a regular garden type hose, held maybe ?4 gallons..

Had a smaller hose at the top with a squeeze trigger at the shower end..

It Kept the built in water pressure because of the expanded rubber.. yep, towards the end it would loose some pressure, but I was blown away with how well it worked..

No need to hold it above your head etc.. Full it was relatively heavy - not something you would want to lug around unless you had to, but did have a 'built in' rubber 'handle' at the top if I remember correctly.

Keep it in the back of your trunk/pickup bed, and refill when empty.. Also was black so the water was 'warm' - esp in the tropics..

Surprised I haven't see one since - not even similar..

Iv'e tried a couple of different showers including rinsekit and a Nomad, an electric portable spray shower. They were both kind of expensive and eventually failed. Now I am back to a I gallon milk jug. It's free and if it fails you just replace it with another.

That is the simple way, but I want it for work and don't want to soak myself to the core and can't legally get naked. I think I'll build one myself.

The rinse kit is probably the best option from what I have seen, but yes usually after about a year of weekly use it goes out......but for $100 or so can be worth it if you need all the time...

Holy Schnikees......I just googled that Rinse Kit.....now it's like $300 bones......I mean really......for that they better have fixed the pressure loss issues and made it a 5 year product!! Back to those milk jugs.....

I've seen ones made from a modified pump garden sprayer. You need to get an adapter for a larger diameter hose to attach a spray nozzle.

I have a propane/battery powered one from a company called "zodi"
They also have a hand pump one that can be warmed on a propane stove.
Amazon has a ton of similar ones under "camp shower"

One gal muriatic acid bottles, tough plastic, good caps. Winter, fill 'em with hot water before you leave the house and chuck them in a cooler. Ahhhhhh! Heaven! Did I mention rinse them out good first? .

Sorry, for those who have much small time this country: in this case, a "cooler" is colloquial for a thermal barrier that is shaped like a box that can cost $10 for a walmart china version or $200 for one of those abominable snowman versions found at the fishing store. The point of the thermal barrier is that it reduces energy transfer between the inside and outside of the box. I.e., if you put cold stuff in it, it stays cold, if you put warm stuff in it, it stays warm. Can we please not do the Fourier equations that describe this phenomenon? I'm super rusty there and this is a surf forum after all...

Third-grade country bumpkin answering his teacher's question about what's the greatest invention of all time, without calling on Fourier:

Boy: "The thermos."

Teacher: "Why?"

Boy: "It keeps hot things hot, and cold things cold."

Teacher: "What's so great about that?"

Boy: "How does it know?"

Five gallon bucket, bilge pump, a few fittings and an old deep cycle battery from work. I also have old 20 watt panels and a few voltage regulators. 40 bucks.

Cool....sounds complicated though.
I go with non electrical, manual pump pressure
Or toms rocket science cooler thang......with a garden watering can.
I'll upload the equations later

I can use if for work too, but you are right, a pressurized sprayer with an upgraded hose is as simple as it gets.

Rinsekit's are pricey. Create your own using a 2.5 gallon pressurized sprayer from Walmart with a different nozzle

They also have the 5-gallon versions that you carry like a backpack at Lowes.

I use a towel , but mostly let the sun dry me off . The ocean water doesn't bother me. In Hawaii water didn't have much salt , the Gulf of Mex is a little stickier.

IMO Gulf water is nasty - esp in summer, it's like taking a bath in hot piss..

And in winter is way way colder... Ughhh

FL's East coast south of the cape can't be beat..

^Right Cole - Lunch break run on beach or quick surf for me. Rince in the ocean and two gallon shower before back to work. Two gallons takes a little practice, but if you ever lived on a boat, you know it's plenty.

My brother in Monterey....(brrrrrrrrrrr.........) pre primes his funny fourier rubber moon-suit with a quart or so from a similar cryogenic preventing thermal device

Camping solar shower: $10
https://www.amazon.com/KIPIDA-...raveling/dp/B085L5XBMG

Mine goes in a 5 gallon bucket and toss it on top of the van after a session. I put a longer hose on it and let gravity do the work.

Mine worked till I forget to drain it over the winter. The algae would not give up.
