How do we think UCF will with the regime change?

Hoping UCF shocks the world again and goes undefeated. However, near impossible that is. New Coach seems pretty good. Very similar to Coach Frost. Randy Shannon is UCF defense coordinator now. Hoping he can improve the defense.
I think UCF will be better than last year. But, who knows until they play the games. Going to be an interesting 2018 year for college football. Urban Meyer already has the news media woken up. |

UCF probably would have beat Miami last year. This year Miami has actually got depth thanks to Richts recruiting. Im not a fan of Richt calling plays on O.. Loaded with talent across the board.. people are doubting the O-line but i see HogMollys The Canes will be a Playoff contender for sure.

Yes, the Urban Meyer thing is ludicrous. You can find the presser they had yesterday on youtube. I'll link it. Urban didn't really show any remorse. Lame. Another reason not to pull for the Yuckeyes.

And, a week from today we, or at least I, will either by happy or sad. First UCF game is Thursday night, Aug 30th, At UCONN. First time ever I remember UCF playing a conference game for the first one. But, I guess it is better than playing @Uconn in Novermber!
Yeah for football season, college and NFL! Good luck to everyone's teams. Predictions, UCF goes undefeated again and is better than last year. But, somehow the college football playoff keeps them out of the top ten and far away from the playoff. Auburn could be pretty good if they develop an offense line that was depleted from graduation. Georgia probably good to. Bama, major injuries already this preseason, so they may lose a game (hoping). Washington vs Auburn first game of year will be interesting. Washington is really good supposedly. We will find out soon enough. ACC, Clemson, Clemson, Clemson. Loaded. New freshman Qb supposedly otherworldly. Canes will be interesting to see if they improved. FSU will be calling for Taggart firing within 3 years. Big 10, penn state and Wisconsin. OSU of course. will be interesting to see progress of Coach Scott Frost at Nebraska. Can he turn them around like he did at UCF? Pac12... Chip Kelly at UCLA now. Washington favored. Oregon maybe. Coach Cristobal has a great situation. From head coach at FIU (miami) to Bama coordinator, now head coach at Oregon. Probably thinking Willie for getting out of the way. Big 12: oklahoma favored. Texas though with 2nd year coach herman will be interesting also. AAC: UCF UCF UCF. Everyone else get out of the way. Navy comes to play at UCF for the first time ever. That game is already near a sell out. Single game tix went on sale last week. My hair will be on fire this season and beating my chest until the first loss. Please forgive me. Its one of my outlets of insanity. Been going to the games since 1985 and am so proud of my Knights. Good and bad seasons. Its been fun. Memphis might challenge, but they lost Riley their great QB but return a ton, including coach. Houston maybe. USF gonna stink. Charlie Strong on a downward spiral. (have to say that as UCF fan). Tulane seems like it could challenge also. Might be a sleeper pick. But, Tulane? A party brainy school in NOLA. Very pretty campus. Checked it out last summer. Looking for an excuse to go back to New Orleans. C-USA: FAU. Is everyone on the Lane Kiffin train yet? Their first game is against Oklahoma. Holy smokes if they upset the sooners, that Friday Sept 21 game @UCF will be very interesting match up. Got tix for that yet? College football in our backyard. Boise State sounds LOADED and really good this year. Mountain West. Don't know too much about that conference but Boise and UCF probably will be competing to get a higher ranking to be the New Year's 6 bowl game player. The top ranked non-power 5 team gets in big bowl. That is how UCF got in the Peach Bowl last year. But, hoping Boise gets that slot and UCF is in National Championship Playoffs. Wishful thinking and I know their is a huge biased against my Knights. But, whatev....Go Knights! |

At the 40 second mark, just another great UCF receiver from Viera High School. Tre Nixon. 2 TDs 100+ yards. First collegiate start after redshirting and then transferring from Ole Miss.

I don't know how good Utah State is but I watched the final 5 minutes against #12 Michigan State. They were tied. Utah state driving at end for a score but got turnover. The Spartans to appear to have struggled with them. A top 25 team shouldn't struggle with a Utah State at home. But, that is just me. Michigan State has a really good receiver that made a miracle catch on 4th and long for them to score the go ahead TD. If he dropped that Utah State wins.

There's a reason UF scheduled a cream puff team for the first game. Both FSU and Miami played serious games and seriously lost. Both looked like they could have used a couple of easy wins before the heavy games had to be played. UF was able to showcase every new and old trick without the outcome ever in doubt. Lets see if that helps when they start playing conference games. UCF looked good. If they are getting red shirt freshman from Ole Miss, then my fears about UF recruiting have come true. Its not easy in any place but its getting damn near impossible in the sunshine state. If you are a kid with the D1 skill set in Florida, you can expect to visited by UCF, UF, FSU, USF, UM, FAU, and God knows who else. You would think our humble state populates the rosters of every good team.

Lsu smacks around Miami... Backup qb didnt make the trip because of team violations so no chance for him to take a shot. Malik looked very inaccurate (mostly overthrown balls to wide open receivers. Im not a fan of Richt calling plays on O. Defense will keep us in a lot of games but wow. It felt just like the 2005 beat down they put on us. On the other hand Va Tech surprises everyone and wallops fswho. Held scoreless at home for the first time in some 35 years or something

Interesting games this weekend (for me)
GaTech at USF noon Colorado at Nebraska 3:30 Scott Frost debut was cancelled last week Memphis at Navy 3:30 (want to see if memphis will be any good) North Carolina at ECU 3:30. UCF travels to Chapel Hill next week. South Carolina State @UCF 6pm Prob 70-0 at half. I gave my tix to a friend travelling in town. Clemson at Texas A&M 7pm. Jimbo can't escape Clemson in texas. Kentucky at Florida 7:30pm. Kentucky hasn't won in like 30 years or something. Penn State at Pitt 8pm. Pitt travels to UCF this year. Hoping Pitt can help UCF SOS with a win. USC at stanford 830pm. Top 25 pac 12 match up. UCONN at Boise State 1030. UCF blew out UCONN. Lets see how Boise lines up with UCONN. UCF competing group of 5 teams for top rankings. |

Here we go with Sunday Morning Quarterback...
UCF, although won 38-0 against FCS SC-State, did not look good. SC-State came to play and their defense shut down McKenzies Passing game. Milton threw 3 INT, bad ones. We had to beat them on the ground and we did with a stable of running backs. I was wondering if UCF kept the offense vanilla for no game film study for the teams coming up. UCF defense played great. Some missed tackles but for the most part a shut out is a shut out. Nation's longest win streak goes to 15 games. Clemson 28 Tex A&M 26. Close game Jimbo went for two at the end and got denied. #3 Georgia romps South Carolina 41-17 #8 Notre Dame 24 Ball State 16 Top ten team should blow out ball state. But, whatev. more games to play. #10 Stanford 17 #17 USC 3 #13 Penn State rolls Pitt 51-6 Arizona State 16 #15 Mich-state 13. UCF should jump them in the polls. Boise State 62 UCONN 7. Boise scores more on UCONN than UCF did with 56 points. But, UCF travelled to UCONN, UCONN had to travel to blue smurf field. Interesting comparision. Probably give voters a reason to put Boise above UCF. Boise travels to Oklahoma State next and we will see if they are fo' real then. Miami 77-0 wow. beat down. KENTUCKY finally beats the gaters after 31 years. 27-16 in da swamp. Glad for my gator friends and coworkers. Put them back in the closet for another year. Houston moves to 2-0 beating Arizona 45-18. They prob will move into top 25. USF beats GaTech 49-38. I watched this game. USF struggled some but pulled it together at the end. If I was a GaTech fan I would be annoyed at their offense game plan. So predictable and boring. FAU recovers and beats Air Force 33-27 Colorado beats @Nebraska and ruins Scott Frost debut game. It was a good game to watch. Colorado was tough and didn't let the 90k+ fans intimadating them. 33-28. Final colorado drive to win was great. Aided by a nebraska defensive penalty then a 40 yard dagger in the heart long bomb. Down go the cornhuskers. Navy beats Memphis 22-21 proving it is tough to beat navy at navy. East Carolina thumps North Carolina 41-19. UCF travels to North Carolina next game. FSU struggled with Samford in the first half but prevails 36-26 Edited: 09/09/2018 at 05:11 AM by Central Floridave |

Whatever hype the Gators generated in game died a whimpering death in the swamp. Being there was worse. I had to explain to my child that a football game is still fun even if your team loses. Its seems like hes going to get a lot a practice with that.

Fla state barely beats Samford Bahaha Man they are terrible!
The Hurricanes travel to Toledo to play in what they refer to as "The Glass Bowl" hmm
Last year Toledo visited Miami and put up 30 points with a high potent offense. Same type offense this year. Could be a blowout (Miami Defense is good) could be a Barn Burner...
Good early game to keep an eye on. Game time 12:00 Saturday

Concur, UCF should have been ahead of ND. ( explained previously)
Hope UCF will make application to ACC. Perfect fit. On Canes/ Diaz. We wanted Diaz to replace Richt long before CMR resigned. This is a dyanmic , hard charging coach. At 44 he may be considered "young" His first interview he stated that : 242 days until we play the Gators. Immediatly 3 linebackers decided to return. He has dismissed the entire offensive staff. He knows and had made the change that CMR would not. Lots of irony here. Our last 2 coaches have come from Temple.????!!!!! I am so very, stoked by this move. ------------------------- So if you are a surfer I wish you the prosperity that allows you more time to pursue the salt water dream, and the true happiness that comes from warm water, clean waves and the companionship of your fellow surfers. oh yeah, I remember that FIU Canes fight. That was like a hurricane spiraling out of control. It was seriously and embarrassingly ugly ..... all caused and fueled by Dade Co HS rivalries and disputes. ------------------------- "Most people would die sooner than think; in fact, they do." - Bertrand Russell "Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. Yes that fight was something no one wants to remember. If you look into the life of former Hurricane Bryan Pata (Rest His Soul) the fight from that game is more in depth than anyone really understands. His death is still unsolved and most in the Miami Dade area believe it stemmed from former FIU players who were in arguments with several Hurricanes players. "The killing of Bryan Pata was one of the highest-profile murders in a city familiar with violent crime. Yet two weeks after the shooting here, the police have not named a suspect or released any indication of why Pata, a starting defensive end for the University of Miami, was gunned down in the parking lot of his off-campus apartment building" He was shot several times in the back walking away from an argument. One to the back of the head.

I was not intending to watch the UCF game, believing that once it got too lopsided it would be boring. I could not turn it and I was never bored. UCF is still a great team but it turns out that FAU under Lane Kiffin is capable and way better than I thought. They played outstandingly and put a seriously impressive amount of points on the board. They never tapped out and they lost by 20 with a surprising share of their dignity.

Silly article UCF football is for kids.. The U was winning Nat Titles while UCF was still in diapers. I am a Brevard native so I support and have attended several UCF games. They have brought in great talent and depth lately, much props to what they have become but be for real.. Id love to see the match ups and I am sure UCF would love to schedule the juggernauts of Florida but start with Fswho then the Gaytors. Maybeee one day the Knights will cross paths with a Hurricane they never wanted in the first place

Lol. It's 2018. Yes, UCF's program was 4yrs old when the canes won their first title what 35yrs ago? Knights are becoming contenders at light speed and top recruits are paying attention. Bet your turnover chain UCF would love a matchup but I'll bet the feeling's not mutual. P5 is protecting their pie at all costs. Don't kid yourself.
See you in Phoenix on New Years Day. UM will be lucky to play in O-town |

Memphis game was the game of the year last year. I wonder if each team can summon that kind of effort for that kind of greatness this year. \
How about that very surprising Gator victory over No. 5 LSU? Very loud in the swamp. Some pretty innovative offense too, which is Mullen delivering and making things interesting. I predicted a 7 win season. I am now adjusting to 10. Not bad for the Coach's first year. ------------------------- "One of the reasons why propaganda tries to get you to hate government is because it's the one existing institution in which people can participate to some extent and constrain tyrannical unaccountable power." That was a good win for the Gators. UCF gets ABC coverage. 3:30pm. Memphis is a little down from last year however they have a lethal rushing attack and lead the nation in run yards.
Is UCF the best team in the state? We might find out if this bowl projection holds true. http://www.miamiherald.com/spo.../article219722285.html |

I think UCF may be the best team in the state. The odd thing is that the better they do, the more it looks like the team's effort and not Scott Frost's. The more Frost loses in Nebraska, the more it looks like UCF team is making the magic. I recognize that the team could not have done it without him, but they have done literally done it without him this whole year.

I think UCF coaching staff is an upgrade from last year. Coach Heupel is really a hard worker and detail oriented offensive genius. He only takes what the defense gives him and gets the ball in the skill players in space. He is faster paced than Scott Frost was but also more conservative than Frost. He doesn't gamble as much. DC Randy Shannon has our defense playing better than last year. It is 4 down linemen and a bend but don't break defense. They take less chances on blitzing but are pretty good at stopping big plays. Give them some yards running, but prevent the big play. This in turn allows the clock to tick and be the opposing team's worse enemy due to they are down 2 TDs by the first quarter.
I realize i'm super biased but feel UCF can compete with any team in the country and are an improved team over last year. I'm really going to take their first loss hard. Hopefully not until 2020. Memphis presents a challenge due to they are saying this is a revenge game from last year. UCF taking the right approach and denying it is a rivalry and just another game and want to go 1-0. I'm also hoping Pitt can take out #5 Notre Dame Saturday. Pitt just upset Syracuse. Maybe they can overcome the 3 TD vegas underdog status and take out the irish. would be great for UCF SOS and take out a ranked opponent ahead of us. |

Their first loss in 2020. That's a fan if there ever was one.
I think Notre Dame is actually the paper tiger that UCF was alleged to be. They rock their conference until they come against the SEC and then they promptly get sent home with either a shut out or very close to a shut out. Syracuse is pretty good so Pitt's victory does lead to some foreshadowing with Notre Dame. I don't believe that Memphis has the horsepower this year. October Saturdays are the best. All day its interesting. ------------------------- "One of the reasons why propaganda tries to get you to hate government is because it's the one existing institution in which people can participate to some extent and constrain tyrannical unaccountable power." The little irish guys are not in a conference. They are in the ACC for all other sports but football.. Funny how they do that huh... The NCAA sucks their D everyday. Freelance scheduling no conference games that actually matter. Ntre dame is the laughing stock of college football (oh wait fla state and that purse they carry around is worse). Anyone remember those little irish guys visiting the 305 last year haha. This year they find a decent Qb and think they are Natty title bound.

I agree with JDBMAN. UCF play somebody then come barking up the Turnover Chain tree.. Last year Georgia Tech, Maryland, irrelevant. A decent Auburn team.. Well, you guys don't vote in the AP or Coach's poll. Top Ten. Plus, back when UCF scheduled NC and Pitt, North Carlina was in the ACC title game and Pitt was 8 game winner. Didn't Pitt beat Miami last year? LOL. I admit UCF has a weak schedule, but the games have been over at half time. American conference has 3 teams ranked in top 25. USF and Cinci are on our schedule, then prob play Houston for title game. Wish Bama would schedule us. They won't. We are 1-0 against Bama. Again last time we played Bama, Georgia, Auburn, UCF won. Playing 1-2 decent teams (maybe) per year is one thing .... playing a power 5 conference schedule is a wwwhhhooollleeee other. ------------------------- "Most people would die sooner than think; in fact, they do." - Bertrand Russell "Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. "Want to knock UCF for a close one against a marginal Memphis team? OK. But give some credit to the Knights for some astounding second-half adjustments on defense. Memphis scored on its first six drives, but the second half went like this: punt, punt, fumble, fumble, punt, punt, clock. No, a one-point win isn't earning UCF any style points, but that second half was impressive."

Nothing seemed to go right for UCF last night. Down two TDs in the 3rd and heavy rain started in the 2nd half. However, if you only watch one play of the game check out McKenzie Milton TD run at the 3:50 mark. The will to win is strong with Milton! Go Knights!

Another head scratcher...why does Oklahoma jump UCF? They lost to Texas two weeks ago and just had a bye week. That doesn't make sense either. But, whatev. Voters are obviously biased. Go Knights! Because the voters understand that the reality is that UCF is not better than any of the teams above them and several of the teams below them. The U played like crap and got their asses handed to them. While I am grateful that Richt has dif taken the program to a much better place ..... I am also fully aware that he was just never able to get Ga to the Promised Land. ------------------------- "Most people would die sooner than think; in fact, they do." - Bertrand Russell "Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. Larry. Notre Dame barely escaped Pitt. Ucf game against Pitt was over at half time.
You may want to start paying attention. UCF is a very good team and can compete with anyone. But you prob think the canes are still better. Good luck with Pitt. A good measuring stick. Memphis is a good team. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Missouri next weekend. They had revenge on their minds against UCF Lots of football left. I was seriously thinking UCF had lost that game and my bragging was over. LoL. 19 game winning streak! Next weekend UCF travels to ECU for another conference game. |

Dave ...... TULANE beat Memphis by 20 .... does that mean that they are better than UCF?? Comparative scores are the single weakest way to evaluate teams. Some years back, using that criteria, you could "prove" that Slippery Rock was the Nat Champs.
I pay very close attention, only I do it through objective eyes. Which is the exact reason I won the 2ndlight pick the bowl game winners, 3 years in a row. As for The U - vs - UCF ...... on a neutral field, The U wins 8 of 10 times. ------------------------- "Most people would die sooner than think; in fact, they do." - Bertrand Russell "Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. My trash talking came to a sudden hault hahah.. Props to UCF keep on rolling!
Richt benching Perry lost us the game. The kid throws 4 Tds 0 Ints against state then throws 2 picks to Virginia and gets benched immediately. Richt is a great recruiter, decent head coach, horrible offensive coordinator especially with his son being the QBs coach. Miami's depth and talent at the wr position is unmatched. Go five wide and let Nkosi sling the rock instead Richt runs on 1st 2nd down not gaining a single yard in the process. It all starts and ends in the trenches and Miami can pass block but does not have the juice up front to move the ball consistently on the ground. So stupid.. Lose by three to Virginia GTFO

"Comparative scores are the single weakest way " What else we got then? Record? UCF undefeated. Hard to dispute that.
ESPN power rankings has UCF at #9. go dispute that then. What is that based on? Both the AP and Coach poll has us a a top ten team. Dispute that. Lane Kiffin on facing UCF: 'It's like facing an SEC opponent' UCF is a better all around team than last year. And, since you hate comparative scores, here is another one for you: Michigan 45 SMU 20 UCF 48 SMU 20 SMU got a garbage TD at end of UCF game and we had 2nd and 3rd string in the 3rd quarter. Michigan got pushed to the end of that SMU game. And, btw Tulane is an improved team. They also beat Memphis in a torrential downpour. Maybe that is how you stop Memphis #1 in nation rushing attack. Prey for Rain... And, we move to week 8.... |

I do appreciate the UCF situation. With its rapidly growing Alumni base and close proximity to fertile recruiting grounds the present and future are awesome.
However the schedule is a discount. Miami did not become a legendary Football school ( winning 5 NCs) by playing the type of schedule UCF currently plays. Howard Schnellenberger said: Anywhere, Anytime. You want to be the best? You have to play and beat the best. This means joining a major 5 conference. Until then. Knights are doing quite well for themselves. Not worthy of a top ten ranking. Richt has made some mistakes, no doubt. He still does not understand recruiting South Florida. Its getting better. Modern collage football offensive play calling has passed him by. His OC does not call plays and his son ( with little experience) is the QB coach. Please do not ever let Richt call for an onside kick. Is Dennis Erickson still out there? After he replaced JJ, everyone was skeptical. Until we saw what a spread offense with speed can do. ------------------------- So if you are a surfer I wish you the prosperity that allows you more time to pursue the salt water dream, and the true happiness that comes from warm water, clean waves and the companionship of your fellow surfers. Doesn't matter your opinion or mine. I am a fan, and alumni. been going to the games since 1985. Not a bandwagoner here. I like that UCF has risen from nothing. Sorry we don't have the 100 year old history. But, we do have the 100 year old future ahead of us. Thanks, I'll enjoy the ride.

After Alabama, all bets are off. Tennessee showed Bama some serious opposition but all of these one loss powerhouses are very interesting against a team undefeated for so many games. If Georgia crushes UF, it will still be more feelings than facts. If UF wins, more confusion. LSU still looking great despite their loss. Ohio State probably wont lose again. Clemson still great. Its an interesting year. IF, and I mean IF, UCF goes all the way and past USF undefeated, they will make history and they will play BAMA. Be careful what you wish for.

The only way UCF plays bama is if they lose two games. They can even lose a game not win their conference, much less their side of the conference and still get in. UCF with the grace of the football gawds will go undefeated again and won't even break #10. I think the college football playoff first rankings (come out next week) will have us at #18 and have some two loss teams ahead of us. Assuring even with chaos, like omg if Bama loses a game, then UCF can't sneak in. Its fine. I'm use to this. Just glad UCF is in the conversation and shaking up the status quo. When espn calls us one of the little guys it cracks me up. UCF is the biggest school in the nation enrollment wise. Yes, we don't have 100,00 fans in the stadium, but neither does Vanderbilt and somehow they could make it to the playoff. The system is rigged and I get that. Everyone who is about fair and a level playing field for even 'the little guys' should pull for UCF to continue to push for fairness. Go Knights!

The bowl system has been completely screwed up since we tried to get to one, true national champion. The good ol' days really were better. Big programs and fans were happy to get to a major bowl; smaller programs went to smaller bowls and they were happy, too. If only one team emerged as a consensus no 1, great. If two emerged as no. 1 (AP and UPI) that was fine, too; we had something to talk about until next season. Now, nobody cares about any of the bowls except the final (and who can stay up until the end? Not me). What used to be huge accomplishments (getting invited as conf champion to the Orange or Sugar or Rose, etc) are now disappointments for teams and fans. They will never be able to get enough teams in the championship format to make it "fair". Basketball went from 8 to 16 to 32 to 64 to 72 and no. 73 is still pissed (because there is no real difference between 72 and 73). And dragging it out over 1-1/2 months sucks. The football orgy of New Year's Day was fantastic. We all got it out of our systems, od'd on snacks and beer, flipped back and forth to find the best games and talked about it all the next day at work or school. I HATE this new system. I can't even stay up to watch the games because I have to get up the next day. I have totally lost interest in the bowls.

One other factor in my preference for the old bowl system - under that system, a team like UCF had a chance to be named NC in one of the polls. Things have to fall exactly right, but BYU did it in the 80s. There was at least a chance for it to happen.

Mike Bianchi: UCF AD Danny White: Power 5 bias in media is frustrating, not factual By Mike Bianchi Orlando Sentinel (TNS) 7 hrs ago Why doesn't ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit and the other torch-carriers for the Privileged Power 5 Playoff Invitational - a.k.a. The College Football Playoff - just come out and admit there is no room at the inn and no seat on the bus for non-entitled programs like UCF? At least this would be honest and above board. Instead, Herbstreit and many others in the elitist media have become mouthpieces for Bill Hancock, the executive director of the College Football Playoff who keeps insisting there is a "path" for UCF to compete for a national championship. What Hancock doesn't say is that this so-called path is the sports version of climbing Mount Everest naked, paddling across the Pacific Ocean in a rowboat, navigating the Amazon rainforest without mosquito repellent and then walking across the Sahara Desert without a canteen. Instead, Herbstreit and many others in the national media have created a false narrative that UCF is trying to pad their record by ducking marquee games with big-time Power 5 opponents when the truth is big-time Power 5 opponents want nothing to do with scheduling UCF. "The P-5 bias with a lot of the national talking heads is not good for the game," UCF athletics director Danny White said Wednesday during an interview on my Open Mike radio show. "It (the Power-5 bias) is growing and growing and getting to the point where it's not even factual." A perfect example came on Saturday when Desmond Howard was on my favorite show, ESPN's College GameDay, and said UCF should start scheduling more "mid-level" Power 5 teams. Um, Desmond, you might want pick up a UCF schedule because that's what the Knights have been doing for years. "(Playing mid-level Power 5 teams) is exactly what our scheduling model is because I can't get higher level Power 5 teams to play us home and home," White says. This year, UCF scheduled North Carolina and Pitt. Last year, it was Maryland and Georgia Tech. The year before that, it was Michigan and Maryland. The year before that, it was Stanford and South Carolina. The year before that, it was Penn State and Missouri. Guys, it's not really that hard to click on a link to call up UCF's past schedules. Either Herbstreit and Howard are being disingenuous or lazy. Either way, it's not acceptable for otherwise creditable and reputable broadcasters. This is the problem when the national media starts discussing UCF: For the most part, they're uninformed and don't really know what they're talking about. That being said, Herbstreit and Howard should know better. They've been around college football long enough to know that schedules are made two or three years in advance, not two or three months in advance. It's not like UCF can just call up Alabama and Clemson in August and say, "Hey, you want to play us this year?" I always just laugh when guys like Herbstreit say UCF needs to be more like Boise State was back in the day when the Broncos traveled the country, taking on all comers in "play-for-pay" away games with big-name opponents. Question: Where exactly did that scheduling strategy get them? Last I checked, Boise State never played for a national championship and are still stuck in the Mountain West Conference. White's philosophy - and I think it's a good one - is to schedule two-game series with Power 5 opponents who will agree to play one of those games at UCF's Spectrum Stadium. The reason: White and his staff have significantly grown the season-ticket base not only by winning, but by giving fans at least one home game per year against a Power 5 opponent. In addition, UCF makes about $2 million per home game and that number is growing exponentially as UCF's season-ticket base grows. White, who runs a financially strapped athletic program as it is, simply can't afford to give up a big home payday to go on the road. But, of course, the college football elitists believe that UCF, which is already at a huge financial disadvantage because it doesn't cash an annual $40 million TV check like Power 5 teams do, should take an even bigger fiscal hit by giving up their home games and going on the road. "We don't believe in buy games (games where Power 5 teams pay opponents to come play a single game in their stadium) because we're building a fan base," White says. "We sold more than 10,000 new season tickets going into this year. You can't build a fan base and a season-ticket base without having quality opponents in your stadium." Besides that, it's simply inaccurate to say UCF doesn't try to schedule headline games with marquee Power 5 opponents. Exhibit A: When UCF scheduled North Carolina for this season, it was August 2016 and the Tar Heels were coming off an 11-win season during which they won the ACC's Coastal Division and lost to Clemson 45-37 in the conference championship game. Is it UCF's fault that North Carolina now stinks and this year's game with UNC was ultimately cancelled by Hurricane Florence? Last year, UCF's strength of schedule was the stated reason the Knights didn't get a sniff of the College Football Playoff semifinals even though they were the only unbeaten team in the nation. Did the playoff committee know UCF was originally scheduled to host Texas last season and Texas bought out of the contract and played San Jose State at home instead? And let's be honest, shall we? UCF's strength of schedule is just a convenient excuse to exclude the Knights from the playoff. Near the end of last season, UCF and Wisconsin were the only two unbeaten teams in the country and had nearly an identical strength of schedule, but Wisconsin was ranked No. 8 by the playoff committee; UCF was ranked No. 18. When I asked Hancock during the summer how that could be considered fair and equitable, he replied, "I don't think the numerical ranking of the strength of schedule is as important as the committee looking at the schedules side-by-side." Translation: The College Football Playoff Selection Committee and their friends in the media are partial to the Power 5 name brands and always will be. Every other sport in America, from the Little League level to the professional level, has a playoff system that gives access to everybody. Except college football. Instead of spewing false narratives and trying to the cloud the issue with strength of schedule, why won't Herbstreit and his ESPN colleagues simply admit that their College Football Playoff is nothing more than a made-for-TV Power 5 Invitational? - - - |

Basketball tried a NC format with only conference champions and it didn't work because Duke and UNC were 1 & 2 and no. 2 had to stay home. So, they went to 16 teams, but, then no. 17 made a legitimate argument that they were at least as good as no. 16, so they went to 32 and no. 33 made the same argument, then 64 teams, then.... The point is that no viable format for football would be any fairer than the current (unfair) one is. I don't want to see the regular season become the preseason (as it is in basketball). I want UF/Gawja, F$U/Miamuh, Mich/OSU, etc, etc to matter. So, if I were king, I would give it up and go back to the way it was. It will never happen because of the TV money, but, I can dream. Until then, I will continue to ignore almost all of the bowls (and go to bed at 10 for those I do turn on) except those with USF (son's team), UCF (daughters' team) and my team (UF). Oh, and I usually dial in to root against whoever F$U is playing.

That's true for those who moved here from somewhere else. But, F$U wasn't dick until the '80s and UM considered dropping football because they were so pitiful. They neither one have ever played in a football conference that merited the name, so, of course they brought good records to their game. UF and Gawja has been THE game for old time Floridians for over 70 years. You newbies from Ohio and New Joisey can have your UM/F$U game. I prefer one with history. And, those, jack, are THE facts.

i'm surprised they ranked UCF so high. I was expecting #18. NOW WE NEED CHAOS TO ENSUE....UCF go undefeated (knock on wood). One thing I was thinking that they keep bashing the strength of schedule. I get that. But, if it is so easy why aren't more teams with a weak SOS not undefeated? Maybe 'cause it is difficult thing to do. Even the best teams lose. The greatest teams don't. At #12 that gives UCF a shot. Our hardest part of the schedule is coming up.
Temple has won the past 5 games and playing really. Their two losses against Villanova (unexcusable but first game city rival)l Buffalo (8-1 in the MAC). Just beat #20 Cincinatti. Game Thrusday night. little worried about this game. UCF HAS TO BLOW Temple out. They always play us tough though. NAVY. Down year for navy, they come to UCF for first time ever. Should be interesting. Cincinatti. Was ranked but only have one loss now. At USF. Was undefeated and ranked but just lost to Houston. Why isn't Houston in the top 25? They only have one loss. Basically USF sucks and have just been scraping by. But an improving team. Game in Tampa. American conference championship game. Probably against Houston. But, UCF has to win out. The meat-n-potato of UCF schedule lays before them. Go Knights! (and, if by chance we lose, please be nice to me...) I like Kentucky and they have heart, but they are not a top ten team. They and Florida are growing well in their growing year but they are not championship material. Ohio State's stumble is odd but they can beat anyone or lose to anyone on any given day. Clemson seems to have a QB that overcomes lots of other deficiencies. Alabama will continue to roll, for the same reasons they do every year. But if UCF can go undefeated for the whole regular season again, it will be impossible to deny them. I don't think anyone in the powers that be want them to play Alabama, but they should be playing Michigan, Georgia, Ohio if those teams want their stats to mean anything.

Yes, why gators are ranked higher is beyond me. Mizzou will take care of them tomorrow I get the feeling.
UCF 52 Temple 40. Exciting game. UCF defense tightens up at end and the crowd noise stopped Temple at the end to win. They were at the goal line and got two back-to-back illegal procedures as they couldn't hear the snap count. Then got a sack and missed the field goal. UCF controls the clock to win. |

Game wasn't decided until about 4 minutes to go in the game. Russo was pretty good. He just got the start for temple a couple games ago. Plus, Temple's great RB first game coming off injury the past few games. I was super worried going into this game. Was worried all the way into late in the 4th. But, our defense did stiffen up and McKenzie Milton played great (although one costly INT). Crowd was electric. I really do feel the crowd was the difference maker. We probably would have lost if the game was in Philadelphia.
NAVY comes to UCF for the first time ever next Saturday. Rumors of ESPN College Gameday coming to our town also. Hope it happens. Game is already near a sell out #12 UCF 8-0. Feels good to be a UCF football fan. Long time coming. Enjoying it while it still is here! Go Knights! Charge On! |

Sports Illustrated nailed it in this article:
Whether you love them or hate them, the Knights probably further confirmed those feelings in Thursday night's 52 - 40 win over Temple. ORLANDO - Whatever you believe about UCF, Thursday night confirmed it. If you think the College Football Playoff system jobbed the Knights last year and will job them again if they go undefeated for a second consecutive season, then you watched their 21st consecutive win and got preemptively mad for Tuesday - when UCF will appear nowhere near the top four of the selection committee's rankings. http://www.si.com/college-foot...ie-milton-playoff-race |

Unless their defense steps it up considerably the rest of the season, they probably shouldn't be, but Milton had very limited practice and still pulled it together. And Hellz no Florida shouldn't be higher than UCF.

"put too many on the scoreboard." Oklahoma allowed 46 points scored on them from a 5-4 Texas Tech. But, they moved up one slot to #6. Logic is so great and confusing for me I guess. UCF has a bye week they move 3 spots, they win a game drop two spots. At least the gators aren't ranked above UCF. At least they can see that obvious observation.

Any goodish team can beat any good team in one game. The test is whether a team can beat good teams week in and week out without letting down against mid-level teams. That is how F$U built their reputation. They only played two or three good teams a year which allowed them to prepare for those teams for several weeks while they went through the rest of the weak (PITIFUL) ACC. UCF is in the same boat. I don't mean to be disrespectful because I root for them; two of of my children went there and I am happy for their success. But, don't delude yourselves. They were sky high and had nothing to lose and beat a very disappointed and listless Auburn team last year. Their SoS in the AAC is not top notch and, even so, they have had some close calls. There is no way, absolutely NO WAY, that they could be a top tier team in the SEC, Big 10, Big 12, or Pac 10 (well, maybe in the PAC 10 this year they could); they would be a mid tier team at best. There is nothing wrong with that, but, despite the banner in Brighthouse, they did not win the NC last year. They are not in the same league as Bama, ND (Gawd, I hate to say that), Mich, LSU, Texas A&M, etc. They MIGHT be in the same league as Mizzou (which is now only 1-4 in the SEC after dominating my Gators). Take pride in how far they have come, how much they have accomplished and how bright their future is, but, don't drink the NC kool-aid.

Listless Auburn team? Eh? I was there for the game. I didn't see that. They shut down UCF offense in the first half and if it wasn't for an INT at the end of the game they would have tied it. Also, Auburn players have dismissed this recently. So...try again.
For the Big12, UCF went 12-1, losing only to #4 South Carolina in 2013, then beat undefeated Big12 champion Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl. We are not a flash in the pan. We have won numerous bowl games and conference championships. If strength of schedule is so easy how come other teams that have weaker SOS aren't undefeated? Going undefeated is difficult in any conference. And, if UCF got paid 36 million a year in the SEC I can surely say they can compete in the SEC. Then we can pay 5 star players as SEC teams have proven to do. Totally drinking the National Championship cool aid. Undefeated is undefeated. UCF plays Div 1 football and meets the requirement of Div 1 football just like Bama does. The difference is the media hype and the TV payout is 36 million vs 1.6 million a year. Money is what is making the system biased. Go look who the College Football Playoff committee is made up with? AD, former coaches and business people in Power 5 conferences. No Grouip of 5 is represented. ESPN owns the CFP. NCAA does not recognize that and has nothing to do with it. Thus, a bunch of TV execs looking for ratings have an influence over it. A Cinderella team like UCF can't get it due to it. Even undefeated. That UCF can compete with all odds against them is great. Level the playing field... Its ok, though, it is the system we have. Many other teams in the past has claime a national championship without any reason. Bama included. Many asteriks on other teams national Championships and their 2017 bama NC has an asterik in the NCAA record books. Deal with it. |

Dave and ding, Much of what you say is true. As I said, I root for UCF. The reason UF was (WAS) ahead of them is that their two losses (UK and UGa) were to highly ranked teams and they have beaten another (LSU). I don't think anyone can objectively compare UCF's SOS to UF's. Who has UCF beaten? At the end of the year, they will not have played a ranked team and most of the teams they have played have about a .500 record. That's not going to get the voters excited. I absolutely agree that the current system is BS and it favors the big money, but, read what you have written; "if" this and "if" that. As my dad used to say, "If a bullfrog had wings, he wouldn't bump his arse." Your "ifs" are true, but, they are still "ifs". As long as we are doing "ifs", I will say, "If we went back to the old bowl system (which I waaaaaaaaay prefer to the current garbage system), UCF would have a chance at a big bowl against a big team that nets them an NC in one of the polls." BYU slipped in one year, why not UCF under similar circumstances? I'm not disparaging UCF and its ambitions, but, until the "ifs" become reality, they are still playing mid-level competition and will be rewarded with a 8-10 ranking. Pretty darned good for where they are now in their program.

What team in the top 11 do you think has a weaker schedule? And what Garcia said is on point about who has UCF beat? And the comparing scores about how much this team beat this team by is irrelevant imo. Did they get the W or not period! So many variables alot of teams let up, and alot of garbage time at end of games and so on. Not the case in all games but alot of games. And you are right its all about MONEY all sports are anymore. Never used to see hardly any players leave teams now great ones leave every other year.

North Dakota State is in FCS division, previously known as 1-AA. Not in same Div 1 league. Nice try, but failed on that one.
Strength of Schedule is also biased. Based on what? rankings. Who does the rankings? I'd prefer that results on the field determine the true national champion. Not in a boardroom. If the NFL had this system, Cowboys would be in the superbowl every year cause they bring more eyeballs to the TV. Who has UCF beaten? Well a pretty good PITT team that is in first place of the ACC coastal along with every conference opponent that is trying to knock us off. Just like Oklahoma just barely beat a very bad Texas Tech team. Just like, looky at washington state. They had to scrap a win of a hapless Cal in the final 30 seconds. Yet, they are #7 with one loss. Who have they played? I've watched a lot of football and when I watch other teams I know UCF can compete with them. UCF would have scored on Bama unlike LSU was able to do. Bama is really good this year, no doubt. But so is UCF. Wish we could prove it on the field rather than a message board. For the AP/Coach poll to drop UCF two slots is embarassing for them. We had a bye week and moved up 3. Then we win and drop 2. MAKES ZERO SENSE. BYE WEEK UNIVERSITY MUST BE A BETTER SCHEDULE THAN A TEMPLE-TOUGH TEAM IS. LOL. Still plenty of football left. UCF has a 6 game losing streak Navy coming to town, then a hot Cinci team. Then we get to go to tampa and kick the shit out of the bulls of south florida. And, then conference champiionship game. Which one of these POWER teams going to want to play UCF in a bowl game? I'm sure they will be listless to play UCF. LOL. |

"What team in the top 11 do you think has a weaker schedule? "
If they have a loss then they shouldn't be ranked higher. Just like any other sport. Wins and loses. Look at the conference races going on right now. Good thing they are not based on biased people's rankings and settled by wins and losses. That makes sense to me. UCF in first place of American East Division. Hopefully we win the conference again. Again, you are basing it on perception and rhetoric. Results on field people. Who has UCF lost to? NO ONE. Until that day happens I'll be waving my National Champion Flag! I get that college football NC is settle by rankings then a 4 game playoff. But, that to me is an unfair system. It is even worse than the BCS era. Out of 130 Div 1 FBS schools more than half are automatically disqualified to play in the NC. Is that right? Shouldn't an undefeated team have a chance? I hear all the arguments, but man, when I watch the games UCF really is good and I think can compete with anyone, including Bama. Due to some stuffy people in a boardroom and other's perception they never will get the chance. Oh well. its the system we have. I get it. But, it is fun to fight and claw for my team. Hope we keep it undefeated and test the status quo! |

Dave, You are viewing those games thru biased glasses. Several teams in the top 10 would almost certainly kick the snot out of UCF, including Bama, Clemson and ND (Gawd, how I HATE to say that). They MIGHT be able to get by Ga, Mich, OK, WV and LSU, but, not if they were in those conferences and had to play tough teams every week. Root for your team, yes, but, it never pays to bet with your heart. I love the Gators, but, I would NEVER bet on them.

Not trying to defend Washington State but they have played: Oregon, Stanford, USC, and Colorado. Better teams than UCF has faced IMO. And I root for UCF but gotta be real they are not close to any of the top teams. And when or if they play a GOOD team in a bowl we'll know just how good they can be. Until then I believe they are ranked close to where they should be. It's great to see your a true fan though no doubt about that!

You don't know that. They haven't played. Like you said, it is your opinion. I have an opinion that the teams UCF has played are better than them. Who is right, who is wrong. Until they play you can't say one team is better than the other. I've watched a lot of the late night Pac12 games. The Pac12 is weak this year. Washington State the best team? LOL. See, I'm biased to think Washy State isn't any good. But, you know what I watched that game against Cal. They barely won and had a last minute score to win. |

Penn State beat Pitt 51-6. Mich just annihilated Penn State 42-7. Notre Dame beat Mich 24-17.You can compare scores all day. And no way Notre can hang with any top teams either they are mediocre at best. And they'll get handeled by SEC teams just like bama did to them '13 NC. BUT that doesnt take away 11 national championships.

2013 UCF ended up #10 in the final AP poll. 12-1 season. Probably should have been a few notches higher. So, put UCF down as would have beat Notre dame as well. |

Here is the only score I could find between Pac12 and American teams this year.

There are 60 power five teams. So, beating ONE of them means UCF was at least one of the top 59 teams on that weekend. It does NOT mean that they are any higher than that and any conclusion otherwise does not make sense. You are right, this is all debatable, but, most of the relevant and objective facts have UCF about where they are ranked. Until and unless they play in a Power 5 conference and win week in and week out, then they really don't have any objective standard to back them up. Yes, it is about money; sucks but those are the realities. Yes, the Pac 10 is down this year, but, that does not mean that UCF should be playing for an NC. (None of the Pac 10 teams will be, either, so, basing your argument on their weakness does not help to make the case.) (Classes in Logic appears to also be one of the areas in which UCF could improve.)

BTW - Arizona has only one three games this year. Not really a powerhouse in the unarguably weak Pac 10. Holding such games up as a totem really doesn't advance UCF's or the AAC's case.

"Where are all the closer teams to Orlando that are afraid?" Not afraid, just not interested. Each of those teams needs an off week because they have a tougher schedule the rest of the season. Also, I would rather have a one-loss team that played a lot of great teams as NC than an undefeated team that played a lot of patsies. It's much easier to go undefeated if you only play two or three games and have plenty of cupcakes in between. Oklahoma did that in the '70s and FSU in the '90s. That is why I still root against them. ["Oh, but we played UF and Miamuh and Notre Dame". Yeah, but you also played Wake and UVA and NC St and UNC and Clemson (who was pitiful at the time, too) and Ga Tech and Duke.]

Garcia, my pac12 to american reference was to Whitey's comments saying those teams are better than who UCF plays. The percieved notion that a team is in the power 5 is better than a UCF is just wrong. Proven over and over again. It's hard to change people's perceptions. I'll just say results on the field are what matters to me.
The last time we played @ Bama, Georgia, @ Penn State, Boston College, Auburn, @ NC-State, Baylor...UCF won. I really don't know how people's perception that they can't compete because we are in a 'lesser' conference came about. Do you guys pay attention? Methinks you don't and have your team's goggles on tight, like I got Black-n-Gold goggles. I give you results on field and I get thrown back that UCF doesn't belong. I'm like hello. UCF is ranked above any other florida team right now and in the National conversation for playoff inclusion. Wether you like it or not, that is where we are. Keep trying to poo-paw it, its fun to me. Sorry your team sucks, but I'm taking advantage of UCF current success to brag and smack talk. You can have your time some time in the future when the tables flip. Hoping FSU can knock of Notre Dame this weekend. Willie Taggart needs it. UCF does as well. I'm a huge fan of Pitt to win the ACC now. Since we are considered a top 59 team when we wiped the map with the Pitt Panthers. LOL. Go Knights! |

It's not your grandfather's college football anymore. Big 3, bleh....It is now the BIG 1. UCF is the biggest school in the nation and best team in Florida. DEAL WITH IT.... (smack talk, be nice to me when we lose as I know it will come around again), nice Miami Herald article...
State of shock? Times changing as Hurricanes, Seminoles and Gators make dubious history I mean three once-great programs that used to own the state and be nationally relevant year in year out. Today the "Big 3" struggles to stay relevant in their own conferences. Today the Big 3 sees an interloper, UCF up in Orlando, carrying and waving the state banner that they went and took. The Big 3 is one more Gators loss from making this the first year since 1978 that finds none of the three ranked in the final polls. Have you come to grips with it, Canes, Gators and Noles fans? Or is it easier to keep dissing the Knights because their American Athletic Association is not a Power 5 conference? Or to simply not acknowledge that UCF, surfing a 21-game winning streak, is for the second year in a row the best college team in the state, period. http://www.miamiherald.com/spo...0Bq4Ycd6PQ7gYA9rDwCiGE |

"The percieved notion that a team is in the power 5 is better than a UCF is just wrong." I don't believe anyone said that UCF could not beat ANY team in ANY power 5 conference. The only thing that I have read, and the single point I have made, is that UCF is not on the level of the top teams in the top conferences. The Pac 10 has been down for a few years, the Big 10 before that, and the SEC before that and the Big 12 is somewhere in there, too. (The ACC is always a one-team wonder, much more akin to the lesser conferences that have a good team rise to the top than to the other conferences that have several most years.) All conferences have up and down years. That does not contradict my point. You can always make the case that this year and this team can be beaten by that team. My only point is that, playing in a weak conference both inflates UCF's record and diminishes their prospects of being included in NC contention. Be happy with their success, but, don't be deluded into thinking that means they are the TRUE Natl Champion. Face it, they went undefeated against generally second-tier competition. Yes, they beat Auburn, and I'm happy they did. But, 9 out of 10 times Auburn wins that game. It came together for UCF. GREAT! If you feel so confident, bet BIG bucks on UCF to win out and to win their bowl game. I, however, would not make that bet. Appalachian St beat Michigan a few years ago. Lightning strikes and that's what makes it so much fun. But, reality has a way of intruding most times. Keep rooting for UCF, I will, too. I will also keep rooting for UF, but, I ain't drinking the Kool-Aid. They weren't as good as their record and their losses were no surprise. But, I can be happy knowing McElwain is gone and they are showing progress. Perspective, my friend.

I went to UF in 1973 when Doug Dickey was the coach. The next 20 years taught me that humility is a great way to deal with a football team. There is always a Lindsey Scott looming to take you down a few pegs. Younger Gators only remember the Spurrier and Meyer years. They think success is a God-given right and that the Gators have great history. (They do not; until SOS, who I absolutely adore as a man and as a coach, they had a history of blowing the big one.) Smack talk is fine until you have to eat the inevitable payback that comes from giving the other guy crap once too often. Zook, Muschamp and McElwain have taught the younger Gators that paybacks are a bitch. UCF fans are on the cusp. They can either humbly appreciate the good times, knowing that bad times are just around the corner, or, they can emulate upstart fans of "the U", the Noles and those younger fans of the Gators. My advice is to appreciate the good times, but, don't get on too high a horse. The fall is tough.

I do got money on UCF. When my band played Victory Casino I bet. So far I'm winning along with the favorite team.
"But, 9 out of 10 times Auburn wins that game." You do not know that. I can throw something at you and it is pure opinion based and hypothetical. Here is a real result. Last time we playd Bama, we won. Last time we played Auburn, we won. How many more times you want to play? Schedule UCF then. Sounds like UCF would be an easy win for bama/auburn, at least 9 out of 10 times. But, you do not know that. Pure speculation. I've heard all the arguments and I keep seeing UCF win. At what point do I suspend my belief process and start to realize that UCF can compete with these teams...10 out of 10 times? I give up on hypothetical games and am only going on real results. So far UCF is undefeated. And, if you want to count last year has a 21 game winning streak. That is hard to discount, hard to dispute. Winning is winning. Unless if you can suspend reality and are a AP/Coach poll voter and you penalize a team for winning against a top conference foe. i.e. Temple. Temple is a really tough team. But, I digress. Here is a good ESPN article written last week. I'm not the only one that shares this opinion. The college football system is broke. We all know it. Read the comments above. UCF going to Reach For The Stars, as that is what UCF does, and, ATTEMPT to change the system. Wish us luck and Charge On! (Others, can just 'deal with it', its just a game). ORLANDO, Fla. -- UCF keeps winning, but it can't really win -- not with its growing chorus of critics, not with Power 5 football fans outside Orlando and probably not with the College Football Playoff selection committee. The undefeated Knights opened at No. 12 in the committee's initial rankings -- six spots ahead of where they started last year -- and once again face nearly impossible odds to make the top four. While UCF expected as much, what it didn't expect was for the negativity directed at the program to seemingly increase. In college basketball, UCF would be Loyola-Chicago. In college football, UCF is Darth Vader. http://www.espn.com/college-fo...otball-playoff-chances |

Thanks for the tip of being a football fan but I've been attending UCF football games since 1985 my freshman year. We were div 1AA then. There was and still is a 1AA playoff system in place that allows I think 16 teams if not more to get in. Doesn't exclude any team based on 'weak' conference. Its basically a level playing field. So thanks for the gator history and what it is like to be a team growing up. I've seen it. ups-n-downs. I was hanging on the goal post when they snapped after UCF finally broke the nations longest losing streak. I do have the credentials to know what it is like to be there. My dad played for Ohio State under Woodie Hayes. So I grew up in a buckeye family. Thus, I've been around football and know all it's history. The blue blood schools have a distinct advantage. No shit why they get the best recruits and best coaches. I like following a sport that isn't slanted. Makes it more fair. I get why a fan of a 'power 5' school wants to keep others out. But, UCF is knocking on that door and ready to kick it over. I hope we do! Love football season. College basketball starts this week.

just in case you don't want to click the ESPN link, main point:
Of course, the people at UCF do not see themselves as villains. At 7-0 with a 20-game win streak headed into Thursday night's game against Temple (7:30 p.m., ESPN), they believe they have the quintessential underdog story: a team relatively new on the college football stage that has only in recent years lived up to its sleeping giant moniker. UCF has won New Year's Six games in two of the past four seasons, and though self-declaring a national championship after going undefeated in 2017 was unconventional, it got the entire nation talking. It also put a bull's-eye on the Knights' backs. All that chatter continues, but the debate is no longer about national championships. Rather, it is about where exactly UCF belongs as the wins continue to pile up. For a school that has no real entry point into the playoff, what can it possibly do to change the growing narrative that it will never deserve a spot in the top four? "It's probably forcing people that maybe were ignoring us before to really listen to what we're saying and hopefully start to realize that we have a system that doesn't make any sense," UCF athletic director Danny White said in a recent interview. "I keep saying the same thing over and over again, but it's the only sport in America that's not settled on the field. What are we doing? It's not that complicated to expand the playoff and make it a real national championship." |

Human interest article here. The two 2017 National Champions Qb's.. Tua and Milton
Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa and Central Florida's McKenzie Milton share a lot more in common than being two of college football's most prolific quarterbacks in 2018. Both made their mark on college football last year. Tagovailoa helped the Crimson Tide to the College Football Playoff national title after entering the game at halftime, and Milton led UCF to the FBS's only undefeated record. To understand how two underclassmen from one of the most remote locations in America managed to deliver on the big stage, one must look at their roots. It all starts in Hawaii, where Milton and Tagovailoa were once youth football teammates for the Waipio Panthers - Tagovailoa at quarterback, Milton at running back and receiver. http://www.sportingnews.com/us...p6hbzkkwn1tgr3nnwr5zwn |

Here is another case of corrupt system. Look at where Ohio State is ranked in the Colley Matrix ranking. It uses analytical data rather than biased opinions. They are ranked below UCF which is where they should be. If anyone of you football experts watched that Nebraska game and saw them get hammered by Purdue you would know they are in a world of hurt.
and on a downward spiral. However, the human polls have them higher. I doubt the poll voters watched the game Ohio State had to squeak out a win against hapless Nebraska 36-31. The game went down to the wire. 2-7 nebraska. Here is their schedule so far. Who have they played? Only beat one team with a winning record. What makes a team power 5? If you are in the power 5 you are all of a sudden a world killer? Kansas says hello.
Look at Ohio State's schedule I put up for you to look at. Which team on it scares UCF? Penn State? Did you see the game where Appalachian State took them into Overtime? Who is next? And they really should have lost against Nebraska. Go read the write up on that game. I watched it due to Scott Frost. Ohio State is not a top ten team in the country. Their defense let a hapless 2-7 nebraska team score 30 points and needed one break out run in the end to win. Coming off an embarrassing loss to Purdue (I watched that game also) and you really gotta question the poll voters and if they are really paying attention or just looking at the name on the jersey.
You guys just perpetuate it as well. Look at what you said earlier in this thread that Miami could beat UCF. Still think that? 9 times out of 10? LOL. I think I'll go with my UCF logic and look at the results and not who the team name is and not what conference they are in. I admit I'm biased. No doubt about that. Wish you guys would admit that you are biased. Along with everyone's else biased opinions. Especially poll voters. So, when in doubt look at the statistics. If I can't convince with real data then there is no hope for you! |

So before the CFP rankings come out Tuesday night. Does UCF go up or down? Currently at #12. Ap/Coach poll dropped us two slots for winning. What does the CFP do? Bring us up to 11 to match that or penalize us for winning and drop us to #13?
Which two loss team jumps UCF next? we saw that last year where a 3 loss team Miss-State jumped us only to lose a 4th game and then drop out. These are serious questions. Please answer before Tuesday night. You guys like this system? I kind of do. I like to discuss football. It is crazy. Glad UCF is in the discussion. At work I have people of all football fan hood that corner me in the hallway and talk since UCF is in this winning streak. It's fun. I have people wanting to go with me to the games. Where were all these people when we were 0-12 in 2015? Everyone loves a winner! |

"You guys like this system?" In a word, "No"; in two words "HELL NO!!!!". I have stated my reasons before and many of them are voiced by Dave, too (even if he doesn't agree with the logical progression). I much, much, much, much prefer the old days, when there was an AP, a UPI and a few other polls and each had a no. 1 (which occasionally didn't agree).
There is absolutely no way that college football will be able to establish a one, true national champion without either 1) diminishing end-of-season traditional rivalries or 2) extending the season by too many playoff games. Basketball provides a perfect example of the latter. They started with 8 teams, then 16, then 32, then 64, now damn near every team in Div 1. The problem is that there is no real difference between teams ranked 4 - 5, 8 - 9, 16 - 17, 32 - 33, or 64 - 65. The lower team always feels screwed and argues for expansion. You also can't limit it to conf champions (as basketball also found out when Duke and UNC were ranked 1 and 2, one of them having one the regular season by a lot and the other having won the ACC tournament) without potentially leaving out the best team in the country (less likely in football than basketball, though, since football doesn't have tournaments, but, still possible with a conf playoff). Regarding diminishing end of season rivalries - if we have a playoff, the teams will be positioning for that rather than focusing on beating the crap out of the rival. If FSU (or UF) sees themselves already in the playoff, how much effort are they going to put into beating the other? They may well rest their best players, rather than risk injury. We see this in bowl games. Those going pro don't give it their all, they take the day off rather than risk their NFL career by injury. The intensity will almost certainly not be there, either on the part of the coaching staff and/or the players. The best solution (never gonna happen, but, I can dream) is to go back to multiple polls. If they align (which they usually did), great; if not, we have more than one "National Champ" and maybe, just maybe, UCF can LEGITIMATELY hang a Natl Champ banner in Brighthouse some day. |

Another benefit is that the bowl games return to relevance. Teams have traditional ties (SEC in the Sugar, Big 10/Pac 10 in the Rose, Big 12 in the Cotton or Orange, ACC in the Toilet) and matchups. Teams are rewarded for good seasons, not pissed off that they only get to go to the Orange Bowl or Sugar or...
Our quest for one true NC has gotten us this garbage system that no fan is happy with. No system will ever work for the reasons I cited previously, their will always be fans feeling screwed. It ONLY benefits the NCAA poohbahs and the TV networks. Believe it or not, the good old days were way, way better for many of the reasons Dave cites, including the discussions around the water cooler (which were generally happier rather than "We got screwed".) There was at least a way for the UCF's to conceivably be No. 1. Believe me, it is much more satisfying to LEGITIMATELY chant, "We're No. 1!" |

Yes, but if you watched the game UCF defense won the game at the end. Great teams get challenged and still win.
Still undefeated. Oklahoma has a texas shootout (zero defense) but moves up. The CFP board said it was UCF defense that was used to keep us at #12. So why aren't other schools held to that? We get penalized for WINNING? Oklahoma barely beat a tough conference opponent in Texas Tech. Texas Tech is not good this year. Yet move up in rankings with shitty defense. Same with UCF. Got challenged by a 'shitty' conference opponent but still beat the Vegas Point spread. UCF was only favored by 11 over Temple. We beat them by 12. Why did Michigan State move up after beating Maryland? Temple beat maryland. Big whoop right? Temple sucks in you guys opinions. Why does a 3 loss team Michigan State move up for beating a shitty team in Maryland. yet, when UCF beats a 'shitty' team we drop? I'll be here for the rest of the year to point out the flaws. UCF has obviously hit a glass ceiling and the powers-to-be are blatantly keeping us there. Too bad. Whatever. I'll deal with it! |

I give up, yes, UCF is one of the best teams to EVER play college football, if not THE best team to ever play college football. OJ would have been a third stringer on this team, their QB is better than Joe Willie, their OL rivals Nebraska's best and their D is incomparable (I can't even think of anybody good enough to compare them to). The ONLY reason they are not rated No. 1 is because Bama is afraid to play them.
Whew, I'm glad I finally got that out of my system. Holding it back was as painful as a turd that I just couldn't crap or a kidney stone that wouldn't pass. But, now, I feel sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. |

Since your a betting man. If they play LSU in the Fiesta or whatever bowl I'll take that bet. Let me know??? And I don't think one of the greatest college football teams would ever give up 670 yards to a temple team, or win only by 1 against a Memphis team. Navy is terrible this year although they beat Memphis. UCF should destroy them. Cinci on the other hand could be a game. Temple beat them but in a close one as you know. They can run, and if they do and chew clock without UCf O on the field it could be close. USF sucks so thats a W for UCF. I think they should be right around 8 right now. Above Wash St. My unbiased opinion of course. Not trying to diss anyone or any team but I'm saying you might wanna be careful what you wish for. I just wish they would get the chance to prove how good they are!!!

Go Knights eggs. Cute!
Gave up 670 yards and still won the game and beat the vegas odds! You can find a negative data point for every team. To be fair, you guys are glazing right over my point about Oklahoma not playing defense and moving up one in the polls. Why is that any different? Plus, Oklahamo has one loss to Texas. And, btw, Texas has a two game losing streak. Also, Texas lost to Maryland. Yes the same team that Temple beat. Yet, the sooners move up to #6. This is how UCF plays football. Outscore the opponent and win the game. You guys decide games on message boards and rich men board rooms. Go Knights! Charge On! (and, beat Navy) |

UCF needs a new neighborhood Ray Beasock, Lakeland Ledger But let's ask another question. One that has to do with a certain undefeated team out of Orlando. Does Central Florida belong in a four-team college playoff if it wins out? Ask anyone in Orlando or with a rooting interest for the Knights and the answer is unequivocally yes. Ask most experts and analysts and the rest of the country and the answer is no. The first College Football Playoff rankings came out earlier this week and UCF was ranked No. 12. The Knights might move up after a big weekend of games between Top 25 teams but will it matter? The Knights, who won their 21st in a row on Thursday against Temple, were even ranked behind two-loss Florida (No. 11). The only way UCF gets into the top 4 is if it blows out the remainder of its schedule, which includes home games against Navy and Cincinnati and then a road contest against South Florida. Even then it might not be enough because the American Athletic Conference just isn't strong enough to give UCF enough quality opponents to secure a playoff spot. You can rage against a SEC bias or any other reason you can find that keeps UCF on the outside looking in but it's easy to see that even a loss to lower SEC team ranks higher or just as much as a win against an AAC squad. UCF needs a tougher schedule but the only way it gets that is if it moves into a better neighborhood. While the SEC is probably out of the question, the ACC might be the solution. All the Knights can keep doing is winning and hoping that someone out there notices them enough to invite them to the party ------------------------- So if you are a surfer I wish you the prosperity that allows you more time to pursue the salt water dream, and the true happiness that comes from warm water, clean waves and the companionship of your fellow surfers. Hey, the glass ceiling is set for UCF. It is quite obvious. The next question is, why? Div.1 football is Div.1 football. It is not fair for a school to meet all the requirements of Div 1 and then when they are successful to be left out of the party. Level the playing field!
The American Conference that is leftover from the Big East conference is Div.1 just like the SEC just like the ACC. The Big East conference at one time was a BCS conference. The one year that UCF was in the BCS big east conference we won the BCS bowl game. There was an opportunity that allowed UCF to prove they can compete with the 'big boys'. Now with this current system and biased opinions we have hit a glass ceiling that is set by people's perceptions. Oh how can a little school like UCF beat Bama. Well, lets find out. Line us up on the field. Go Knights! |

Look for the debate to continue into 2019 if UCF remains undefeated!
The Playoff committee's shifting logic shows it has no interest in ever including UCF By Michael Weinreb | Last updated 11/8/18 Back in 2014, in the midst of an uneasy path toward the inaugural College Football Playoff - and eventually to the National Championship game - the University of Oregon won 12 football games. In one of those, the Ducks surrendered 40 points to Cal; in another, they gave up 31 to Washington State and in another, they allowed 30 points to UCLA. In the end, Oregon finished 89th in the country in total defense and 31st in scoring defense. http://www.yardbarker.com/coll...WZPJe89gNrJL2NuBxG7Cxw Edited: 11/09/2018 at 03:41 AM by Central Floridave |

Unranked Tennessee 24, #11 Kentucky (5-5, 2-4 SEC) 7
We all said Kentucky was overranked, except the "But, but, but, they're SEC!" pollsters. #7 LSU scrapes by unranked Arkansas (2-8, 0-6 SEC) 24-17 "But, but, but, they're SEC and the game was in Razorback Stadium!!!" #6 Oklahoma scrapes by unranked Oklahoma State (5-5, 2-5 Big 12) 48-47, gives up 640 yards total offense. "But, but, but Oklahoma State is in the Big 12!!!" Unranked Wake Forest (5-5, 2-4 ACC) takes out #14 NC State 27-23 #15 UF scrapes by unranked South Carolina (5-4, 4-4 SEC) 35-31 #1-#5 all had solid wins, as did #8 -#10. #6 and #7 underperformed. But since only #11 UK lost, it's probably only up 1 to #11 at best for UCF this week. Navy was 0/2 on pass attempts for 0 yards in the air, but put up 374 yards rushing, so if the pollsters continue their skepticism of UCF's defense, not much happens. If Oklahoma doesn't drop after their defensive suckery today, the pollster hypocrisy will be blatantly evident. Edited: 11/11/2018 at 08:27 AM by RegularJoe |

Fun game to be at. Navy offense is boring to watch in person. Game was basically over at half 21-3 and it was clear UCF could score at will. Navy did surge at the end. Navy scored 22 points on Notre Dame with a similar score 44-22. UCF now at Nation's longest winning streak at 22 games. Cincinnati Next Saturday. rumors of ESPN College Game Day coming to our town! No news yet.
I got home to see the end of the Oklahoma-Okie-state game. Swiss cheese defense on both teams. Reminded me of a NBA regular season game...no defense at all.... Sooners would have lost if Okie-State would have made that extra point. Had to go for two at the end to tie it and their qb flubbed it. Kentucky...LOL. someone explain why a two loss team was ranked above UCF. Yes, still got a chip on my shoulder. Until someone knocks it off! UCF probably will drop in the AP/Coach poll for beating up on Navy and WINNING... |

I was at the Florida game again. I was almost ready to leave at half time. Glad I stayed. It was quite an effort by Florida to commit to the run. Felipe ran like his spot depended on it. It did. The funniest thing I heard all day was when the game finally ended, the guy behind said "well, Muschamp still cant win the in the swamp." Gold.

https://www.saturdaydownsouth....-accomplish-one-thing/ https://www.orlandosentinel.co...ianchi-0712-story.html As for Herbie, here: And even Herbstreit would have to agree that Pitt - an ACC team that UCF destroyed 45-14 six weeks ago - has suddenly turned into a massive positive for UCF's strength of schedule. The Panthers, 6-1 in conference play, clinched a spot in the ACC Championship Game against No. 2 Clemson with Saturday's 34-13 victory over Wake Forest. Since getting buried by UCF, Pitt has won five of its last six with the only loss coming 19-14 to No. 3 Notre Dame after the Irish scored on a long touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter. 5. UCF (10-0, 7-0 American)
Week 12 result: Defeated Cincinnati 38-13 What's next: at South Florida (Friday, TBA) If not now, when? The Knights put together a thorough prime-time beatdown of ranked, one-loss Cincinnati, a performance that demands the attention of the CFP committee. And even if Saturday's impressive display isn't enough to nudge them up the polls, it's plenty for the Power Rankings. Oklahoma and Ohio State certainly didn't do enough Saturday to merit being ranked over UCF any longer. Georgia will eventually get its shot against Alabama. LSU already has lost twice, and it doesn't have the sort of offense that inspires confidence. The arguments against seriously considering the Knights, who extended their nation's-best win streak to 23 games, aren't holding up as we get deeper into the season. |

http://www.ncaa.com/brackets/football/fcs/2018 Squad? Nobody has called a football team a 'squad' since the turn of the century. The 1800s. You really need to get caught up to current times. LOL. I think UCF should be ranked around #6. Just outside the top 4 and where they were ranked at the end of last year after beating Auburn. UCF is hosting the American Conference Championship game Dec 1st. Get tickets now. Prob will sell out since last home game. UCF travels to Tampa for the War on I-4 Rivalry game on Black Friday. I'm hoping that game is over by half and we just totally shut the bulls out. Game means nothing other than keeping the win streak alive. Even if we lose UCF host the championship game. Go Knights! What a freaking Saturday for UCF football. A great day for UCF football history. Thanks for being apart of it and reading my drivel. Go Knights, Charge On! UCF in top ten in both the AP and Coach's poll. Right where they belong. Gonna be interesting Tuesday night for the BCS, er CFP poll. They gotta move us up from #11. Throw us a bone people.
Tickets are on sale now for American Athletic Conference Championship game at Spectrum Stadium. Last chance to see 2018 Knights at Home. The games are part football part rock concert. They are fun. hopefully we get a later time slot so the tailgating can fully be utilized. Rivalry Week games to watch: Thursday: Miss-State at Ole Miss Friday: bunch of games on. Main ones: Houston at Memphis NOON. Memphis favored, but Houston can win the conf div and play UCF with win. Otherwise I think Memphis gets in. UCF at USF Black Friday 4:15pm WAR ON I-4 #6 Oklahoma at #9 West Virginia 8pm #18 Washington at #8 Washington State 8pm Pulling for Washington. Washington was favored preseason. Saturday: #4 Michigan at #10 Ohio State NOON GaTech at #5 Georgia NOON #13 Florida at FSU NOON Auburn at #1 Bama 3:30pm South Carolina at #2 Clemson 7pm #3 Notre Dame at USC 8pm |

W-lizard. LMAO all you want. You must not watch football and other teams. Glad the poll voters are finally paying attention. Like I said previously,
UCF is the best team and story in the nation right now. So sorry it offends your perception you have to make you LMAO. That is ok though. I get it. I've been here to help you guys come around. You will eventually. Keep throwing darts though. It helps the cause and the realization that UCF plays pretty good football! Go look at the TV ratings for College gameday and the 8pm saturday game. Fantastic game and on a national stage. You have to wonder if ESPN expected UCF to lose and that's why they scheduled Game Day there, kind of an EffU for Kirk Herbstreit that backfired!

Best story in the nation for sure. It's such a cool story and hopefully leads to a reason to expand the playoffs. Honestly, I think Bama would smoke them, but unless they get a shot, it's guess work.
USF is going to whoop that ass for about 8 minutes on Friday. That seems to be the length of time they can put something together this year. 100 to 1 that it's the right 8 minutes and it's enough. I still buy a lotto ticket now and then, so I'll tune in. ------------------------- A horse walks in to a bar. Bartender says "Why the long face?" |

" would wax the floors with UCF." *YAWN*... Stop me if I heard that one before...
Line them up and let them settle it on the field. Otherwise it is just speculation and very biased opinions. Who would think Maryland would give a 'top ten' team in Ohio State a game and lose it in overtime? If you watch "A Lot" of football you would know and recognize that UCF can compete with anyone. It seems the poll voters are coming around also. Probably going to take the winning streak into 2019 for us to get consideration for the Bama Playoff Invitational. If UCF schedule is so petty and there are other teams with similar petty schedules WHY THEN AREN'T THERE MORE UNDEFEATED TEAMS... Winning is difficult in any conference. Get everyone's top A games. Just like the Yuckeyes got maryland's best game. UCF will just keep winning. Keep throwing shit us. It ain't sticking... LOL. WooHoo Winning is fun and UCF just hosted a successful ESPN College Game Day with many accolades and great exposure. Then go kick the shit out of a top 25 team. Sorry you disagree, but poll voters did. with that said, throwing salt over my shoulder, double anti-hex, dear football gawds...Please Allow UCF to go Undefeated again and challenge the status quo...Its fun! Glad to have all you guys up on the ropes and feeling challenged that a 'little ole school' like UCF is winning and potentially the best team in the Nation. We will see, plenty of football left to play. oh, and good luck canes with Pitt. They are part of UCF's petty schedule. UCF 45 Pitt 14 (game was over at half time), 2nd/3rd string played 2nd half. Pitt scores TD in garbage time. ---> PITT at Miami Saturday 3:30pm. <--- good luck with that petty team in Pitt. Edited: 11/19/2018 at 12:30 PM by Central Floridave |

DEAR FOOTBALL GAWDS, keep the rat poison away and allow UCF to remain Undefeated...
AP ticker: No. 8 UCF has goals beyond beating archrival South Florida TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- No. 8 UCF isn't content with having the nation's longest winning streak. The Knights want more. A lot more. The defending American Athletic Conference champions can complete a second consecutive undefeated regular season by beating intrastate rival South Florida on Friday. Next on their list of goals is winning the AAC championship game - which they'll host on Dec. 1 - to remain in the conversation about which teams are deserving of berths in the College Football Playoff. ''From where this program's come, it's just getting started,'' quarterback McKenzie Milton said. ''I think we're just scratching the surface and UCF is going to be good for a very, very long time.'' First-year coach Josh Heupel, who inherited a team that went 13-0 but was left out of the CFP last season, agrees. ''This is the most unique story in college football in my opinion because it's continuing to build what it's going to be,'' Heupel said. ''Blue-blood programs were built in the 30s, 40s and 50s. We're right in the midst of what's going on here.'' And the rest of the country is taking notice, especially after last week's 38-13 rout of Cincinnati in a prime-time matchup capping a day in which ESPN's ''College GameDay'' broadcast from Orlando for the first time. ''Waking up in the morning ... turning the TV on and seeing it's in Orlando on UCF's campus on Memory Mall, that was unreal ... a childhood dream to me,'' senior defensive lineman Joey Connors said. The Knights (10-0, 7-0) climbed three spots in the AP Poll this week and will face the winner of Friday's game between Houston and Memphis in the AAC title game. South Florida (7-4, 3-4) has lost four straight following a 7-0 start that propelled the Bulls into the Top 25. ''Central Florida's playing with a lot of confidence, something we don't have right now,'' South Florida coach Charlie Strong said. ''When you start winning, when you start playing with confidence, you feel like no one's going to beat you,'' Strong added. ''That's what they have going on right now.'' Some other things to know about the Knights and Bulls: I-4 RIVALRY The schools are situated about 90 minutes apart, with Interstate 4 connecting Orlando and Tampa. The series, which USF leads 6-3, has been dubbed the ''War on I-4.'' Since 2016, the winner has been presented with a traveling trophy that's 4-foot, 3 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. MEMORABLE GAME UCF won a 49-42 thriller a year ago in Orlando. USF's Quinton Flowers had 605 yards total offense and the Bulls rallied to tie the score 42-all on the quarterback's 83-yard scoring pass to Darnell Solomon and a two-point conversion with 1:41 remaining. The Knights went ahead for good when Mike Hughes returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. ''You had two teams evenly matched, and it came down to a kickoff return,'' Strong said. ''If we would have covered it better, who knows what might have happened.'' POTENT OFFENSE Milton, eighth in Heisman Trophy balloting a year ago, has thrown for 2,577 yards and 24 touchdowns. UCF is sixth in the nation in total offense (528.9 yards per game) and scoring (43.6) and has scored at least 30 points in 23 consecutive games. That's the second-longest streak since 1936. South Florida did it 24 straight times from 2015-17. USF has allowed 57, 41,35 and 27 in losses to Houston, Tulane, Cincinnati and Temple during its longest skid since 2013. ''It's a lot of home run balls for them,'' Strong said. ''We can't allow them to take the ball and pitch it over our heads for 60, 70-yard plays. If anything, you've got to make them drive the ball and you've got to be great in the red zone.'' |

"It was heartbreaking because McKenzie Milton is a great person. It wasn't about McKenzie Milton the football player, it's him as a person," said running back Greg McCrae, who finished with 181 yards and three touchdowns. "Seeing that happen to him, it was devastating to the whole team, so we all rallied around that and tried to use that as our motivation to play for him, to play for 10."

Notre Dame should have been punished for almost losing to the losers at USC. Ohio State should not be so rewarded after losing to Maryland just a week ago. Oklahoma only beat WV because of a stupid penalty and a stupid onside kick call by their coach. How does Texas move up 2 slots after barely scraping by a 3-win Kansas team? Pollsters want Georgia behind Notre Dame so Georgia will have to face Alabama in a semifinal game instead of having an all-SEC final. End of rant...

The question was raised, what if Georgia beats Bama in conf game. Pretty much across the board they all said "Even if they get beat bama is the best team in the Nation."
That right there my friends is a very biased opinion and is WRONG. That would mean Bama once again didn't win their conference and got it. Also, another shame is Notre Dame. No conference championship game so they get to rest up and study other teams. Basically, Div 1 football is rigged for only big name schools to get in the top 4. All 130 Div 1 teams play by the same rule book, same requirements. Yet, 60+ are automatically rejected and not eligible. Also, that sways recruiting for all the 5 star players to sign with schools that can play for a national championship. Tell you the truth. Seeing the same teams year in and year out is very boring. At least to me. Ohio State, I witnessed them get blown out by Purdue. Michigan showed no life against the Yuckeyes. Oklahoma plays zero defense and just like last year will get blown out in the semifinal game if they get in. Bama and Clemson are pretty good and are undefeated. But, they have to win their conference to get in. In My Not-so-Humble Opinion. So, I'm pulling for Pitt to upset Clemson (no shot of course but maybe I'll throw one of my double hex on clemson to lose) If Georgia beats Bama. Bama should not be rewarded for NOT WINNING THEIR CONFERENCE TWO YEARS IN A ROW. I think UCF should be ranked 5 right now. Michigan should be below and Yuckeyes. Maryland by-god took them into OT. Really? Are people not watching these games? Gawd I feel sorry for Memphis. They are going to get blown out by a very enthused UCF team. Yeah Yeah YEah, they took us 31-30 for the first game. But, since you guys dont' watch either team. The game had a monsoon rain that shut both teams down. Whatever, Proud of my UCF Knights! Stoked in the conversation. Super bummed about McKenzie Milton, but one person doesn't make a great team. Really don't know how Gators snuck into top ten. Who they beat? |

UCF is not losing to Memphis. Get that out of your heads right now. Darriel Mack, the new starting Qb for UCF is really good. Tune in and watch. UCF has a great team.
btw, less than 2000 tickets left. Some cheap tickets available. Football in our back yard. Btw, we haven't played Georgia Tech in a very long time and FIU was 3 years ago. We did kill Maryland last year though. You ain't watching. You aren't fooling anyone. I am though. I'm here to tell you UCF has a great football team. Too bad you guys are so busy shooting us down to not to appreciate it. One of the best football teams of all times. Sorry you guys don't see it and can't appreciate a great football team. 24 wins in a row. But, yes, if Memphis by chance wins (they do have a great running team with two RB's that are good and tough d-line), I will crawl back in my hole! However, that ain't happening until 2020, if not 2021. Yes, UCF will be even better in 2019. We ain't going away! |

Larry, how can you dispute that going undefeated is not a great thing to do. How many other teams have done it...in any other conference?
Not too many. In 2017 UCF was the only undefeated. This year, only 4 remain and at the end of the bowl games there probably will only be two. Bama and UCF. But, time will tell. I'll stick to my statement that UCF is one of the best football teams of all times. Glad to see the CFP/AP, and Coach poll all has UCF in the top ten. I don't know what you are doing other than just throwing hater darts and failing. Keep on hatin' as that is what haters do...Hate! Also, strength of schedule is subjective. I've heard numbers from 120 to 70 something. Who makes those up? Pollsters, with subjective biased opinions just like you. OMG, how can a team like UCF beat Auburn, Baylor, Penn State, Georgia, Alabama, etc etc etc. Their strength of schedule is horrible. Well, we have beat all those teams in the past and will continue to compete with teams like that. Get use to UCF being a top tier team for the foreseeable future. You may enjoy it better if you just come along and jump on the bandwagon. Plenty of seats available. Otherwise, in my opinion you are looking like a dinosaur in your thinking just like many others are. Get up with the times, please. It is 2018 and UCF has one of the best teams of all times. DEAL WITH IT... Can't wait for the Memphis Championship game. Gonna be fun to attend. Part football game part rock concert. Hoping we win of course and get lined up with another great team to compete against in a bowl game. |

CFP wonks making sure UCF is locked out of playoff
If there's ever a doubt the College Football Playoff committee has a let's-cover-our-rear-end side, the Power 5 gatekeepers of the most meaningful postseason confirmed it this week by slyly moving up UCF only one spot to No. 8 in the latest rankings. By keeping the 11-0 Knights right behind 10-2 Michigan, who had just been eviscerated for 62 points by Ohio State, the gutless suits led by chairman/Oregon AD Rob Mullens made certain college football's defiant rebel would be locked out of the playoff. No matter how badly it might defeat Memphis Saturday in the AAC championship, and that's by no means a given, UCF is obviously being kept at a safe distance by the elitists who don't want it touching the coveted fourth spot. http://www.jacksonville.com/sp...-locked-out-of-playoff |

Wow, what a game. Probably the loudest I have ever heard a game crowd ever. Super depressed at half time thinking this was it, our first loss.
But, the Knights battle back and win with a super strong 2nd half! Back to Back Conference Champions! On to the Bowl game. (announced today) |

Thanks for the extra tix, CFD! Helluva game. First one I've attended in about 30 years, definitely worthwhile. Wife and I were worried we jinxed the Knights. The first half was as painful to watch as the second half was exciting.
Loud indeed. We were right next to the bouncing student section. I hope they have civil engineers checking that part of the stadium on a regular basis. QB Mack will have a bright future. Early mistakes w/ ball handling and not finding secondary receivers were fixed by halftime. Nerves, pressure, and inexperience at the start, but amazing once he found his groove. Lots of weapons on offense. Final stats showed a very balanced offense: of 698 total yards, 348 in the air and 350 on the ground. Unfortunately, our Temple defense showed up most of the first half. Make no mistake, Memphis has weapons as well. Memphis RB Darrell Henderson had 10 carries for 207 yards and 3 TDs in the 1st half, but the UCF D adjusted and held him to 3 yards on 6 rushes in the 2nd half. UCF won the 2nd half 35-3. Overall, I have no delusions about our team being on the level of 'Bayma or Clempsun this season. I believe our offense is on par with any of the next 10 ranked teams. The D shows signs of brilliance, but the same kind of inconsistency most of the #3-#12 teams have shown, so it should be a reasonably level playing field with any of them. I guess this is the year of the explosive offense. I'm hearing Fiesta Bowl against LSU as a likely destination. Wish it was somewhere closer and higher ranked than a 3-loss team, but the team will once again have to play the cards they're dealt. Edited: 12/02/2018 at 10:34 AM by RegularJoe |

Why does a #7 ranked team drop to play a #13 team. Shouldn't a #7 team play another team in the top ten? Would seem right to me.
UCF vs LSU is an interesting match up. Favored by ten. Interesting. Last time we played in the Fiesta bowl we were 17 point underdogs. Same with the Peach bowl against Auburn. Once again playing the part of the underdog. Easy Money. For the top 4, They got it right. Bama/Clemson/NotreDame/Oklahoma. Pulling for Oklahoma to win it all. If that happens, +UCF wins, that would keep UCF the only 2018 undefeated team in the Nation. Back-to-Back National Champions here we come! GO SOONERS!!! As a side note, is the Yuckeyes happy to be left out of playoffs after winning a very hard Big Ten conference back-to-back. Probably not. A big school like that with much influence probably will push this stupid College Football Invitational to expand. It needs to. |

Excuse me, UCF is #8 in final CFP Poll. Not #7. I didn't even pay attention to all the jibber jabber yesterday. I just assumed we would be #7. Whatever. What a joke of system. UCF should be #4 or #5. Winning a conference should mean something. Michigan ranked higher at #7? Win your conference at least if top ten.
How much you want to bet that the Athletic Director of the Gators (he sits on the CFP committee) canvassed for them to play Michigan rather than UCF in the Peach bowl? They pick the bowl games also. Why would a #8 team get lined up with a team not in the top ten? Then makes us travel all the way to Arizona? Oh well. Its the system we have. Semi-fun to poke holes in it. UCF has one of the best teams in the Nation. Best storyline anyway. Proud of my Knights! Hope we can beat the LSU tigers. I do admit it is an interesting line up. Can UCF compete with SEC team? I'm reading reports that some of their defensive players are sitting out the game because they declared themselves for the NFL draft. Smart move on their part. Don't want to get hurt and cash out. I can't remember ever a UCF player wanting to sit out the biggest game of the year?!? I guess we will see a unmotivated LSU team show up with a bunch of scout players playing. LOL. Vegas may want to adjust those odds! |

from an article.
In the end, it couldn't even get the intriguing bowl matchup - against Florida - for which many fans were clamoring. On Sunday, CFP chairman Rob Mullens said geography had much to do with sending UCF to Arizona and Florida to the Peach Bowl (to face Michigan). "As we looked at those four slots that we were gonna fill, Michigan being ranked No. 7 obviously deserved to stay closest to home, so that's what placed them in Atlanta," Mullens told ESPN. "Obviously UCF had played in Atlanta last year, so that kinda set them in the Fiesta Bowl." |

"As we looked at those four slots that we were gonna fill, Michigan being ranked No. 7 obviously deserved to stay closest to home, so that's what placed them in Atlanta," Mullens told ESPN. LMAO! Michigan played Stanford in the very first Rose Bowl game in 1902, and have since played there 20 more times. I'm sure they're familiar with the route to Pasadena, love the weather and hotels there, and would be happy to play another sorry Pac-10 team. Peach Bowl really blew an opportunity. I'd love to have a hidden mic in that CFP boardroom! |

So, michigan deserved to stay closer to home. Really, Why again? We sent 40,000 fans to last year's Peach Bowl. Owned the place. What a mistake to not send us there against the gators. I definitely bet that Gator AD has a say in who they would play and wanted to avoid UCF. Is it really right to have no representation for UCF in that committee?

Commentary: Gators AD Scott Stricklin: UF didn't duck UCF in the Peach Bowl
University of Florida athletics director Scott Stricklin wants to make one thing perfectly clear to those UCF fans who keep blowing up his Twitter account: The Gators did not duck the Knights in the Peach Bowl. "We would have loved to have played UCF in a bowl game," Stricklin told me Monday. "I think it would have been an exciting matchup and created a lot of interest, but we also think our game with Michigan is an exciting matchup, too." The reason many conspiracy theorists believe the Gators vetoed a potential Peach Bowl game with UCF is because Stricklin is one of the 13 members of the College Football Playoff selection committee, which sets the match-ups for the major New Year's Six Access Bowls. Not only that, but it sure seems fishy that the committee would pit Michigan against Florida in the Peach Bowl even though this will be the third time those two programs have met in last four years. UCF, meanwhile, is playing LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. http://www.orlandosentinel.com...wl-20181203-story.html |

In the big scheme of things, UCF will be better off playing LSU. They are a more formidable and respected team than my Gators and the Fiesta is a more prestigious bowl than the Peach. So, win should boost their ranking at season's end. And, a close loss to LSU might be better than a close win over the Gators. As far as the Gators ducking them, that is laughable; teams don't get to pick their bowl opponent. (If they did, UCF would be playing Bama). No bowl wants a team 2 years in a row if they can avoid it. That has been a rationale for many bowl matchups over many years. Dave has drunk so much Kool-Aid that his powers of reasoning are in the toilet. He sees conspiracies everywhere. (Of course, he was probably an engineering grad, so, his powers of logic and reasoning were limited to begin with.)

Houston, you have a problem. ARMY and 70 points?!? Memphis great RB sat out due to NFL. Too bad, score looked close, he may have been a difference maker. I only got to catch glimpses of those games. Been so busy, but now settled in after Christmas. Looking at schedule some games today (wednesday) but Thursday looks like some fun games possible. Temple and Miami, the tale of two different teams. Things that Mark Richt better figure out or 2019 will be his last as Cane Head Ball Coach:
- A fucking QB that can actually play!! - An OL that can actually block (run or pass) - An OC that designs and calls plays for the current century .... and yes, of course I know that he is currently his own OC - A new DC to replace his departing one .... who I think was / is a tad over rated. ------------------------- "Most people would die sooner than think; in fact, they do." - Bertrand Russell "Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. I agree, UCF would have played better. Oh well. They got their blue blood programs in there.
So far the bowl games have been boring. Gators womped on Michigan. Why was michigan ranked above UCF? So stupid. it was obvious Michigan was on a spiral downward trend. Ohio State killed them in conference game. The yuckeyes scored 62 points on the wolverines. Again, why the CFP ranked michigan at #7 above UCF is comical. UCF should have been playing the Gators in the peach bowl. Also, watching ESPN college game day yesterday morning. They highlighted every remaining bowl game and did their picks. But, left out LSU vs UCF Fiesta bowl game. A NY 6 bowl game. Zero coverage, zero picks for the game. I was like hello, we play football also. Its like they totally forgot about us. UCF gave espn college game day the biggest crowd and best ratings when they visited our campus. I don't get it. No coverage what so ever. its collusion I tell you. McKenzie Milton is in Arizona with the team and participating in pre game activities. He is a great story. Yet, we get detailed in-depth over coverage of Tua's ankle. Along with graphics of the procedure for a HIGH ANKLE SPRAIN...really? An ankle sprain? Milton has had 4 surgeries so far and a 5th to go to reconstruct the knee. Do we get any coverage of that? Will they even talk about him for the bowl game? Yes, I got a chip on my shoulder. Watching all these boring ass bowl games I know 100 percent that UCF has a great team and could perform better and are more entertaining. Its been a long wait for the Fiesta Bowl. It is coming up though! Yeah for Bama and Clemson in another 'championship' game. Ba-Ba-Boring.... There is no parity in college football then when a Cinderella team like UCF emerges they get no coverage. LSU is still a 7.5 point favorite to beat UCF. I don't see that happening. LSU may have better athletes but UCF has the better team. Go Knights! |

It will take a school like UCF to challenge it. Good article. Having the AD's on the bowl selection committee within itself is a conflict of interest. Where is UCF's representation? There is none. its a monopoly and will take a lawsuit to challenge it. |

UCF's seniors go from winless season to 25 straight victories
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Is it possible to pause the bickering over UCF, its so-called national championships and its place at the college football table, and just appreciate what this team has done over two seasons? Because at the very least, the players deserve to have their story heard, without the College Football Playoff debate obscuring a turnaround that borders on the miraculous. http://www.espn.com/college-fo...-incredible-turnaround |

Because at the very least, the players deserve to have their story heard, without the College Football Playoff debate obscuring a turnaround that borders on the miraculous." Glad to see you have finally come around, Dave. I've been saying this for the past two years - appreciate what they have done and quit bitching about the system. They have accomplished a ton and deserve the accolades, but, that does not make them Natl Champs. And, if they continue to duck deals like the Gators offered them, they will never be in the mix. The Houston Cougars are finalizing a deal to make Dana Holgorsen their next head coach and are expected to announce his hire as early as Tuesday, a source with knowledge of the search told ESPN.
The West Virginia coach, who is 61-41 with the Mountaineers, will receive a five-year contract worth $20 million, the source said. It would make him the highest-paid coach of a Group of 5 program. |

The gators have a media spin that UCF is ducking the gators in scheduling when it is on record that they canvassed the gators not to play UCF in the peach bowl. The Gators AD sits on the college football playoff committee. The emails shows he colluded to keep us from playing. But, Good luck with trying to change the narrative.

I am sorry the Knights lost, but, at least we can stop the conspiracy theories that Dave has locked onto. And, yes, the Gators offered to play 2 home games at UF, 1 at UCF which UCF turned down. If UCF wants to join the big teams, they need to take offers like that. . Were you not entertained?
Hey Garcia, I'm so sorry that you are threatened by the success of UCF football. Danny White is a great Athletic Director. Look where he has UCF sports. In the conversation. Where were we before? He has hired some amazing coaches in all sports. One of his brothers is the head coach at gator mens basketball and the other brother is the AD at FAU. His dad is long time AD directory at Duke. He is well connected and really smart and holds a Ph'd. I think he knows what he is doing. UCF does not make as much money with conference affiliation like the gators do. We need 7 home games and butt's in seats. Going to play away for a buy out game is losing money for UCF not making it. UCF will do just fine without playing the gators. Maybe we will meet up in bowl game next year. USF Bulls just signed a 2 for 1 deal with the gators. Lets see in a few years how that works out for them. USF is hurting financially so they have to stoop for those lopsided deals. Basically what a div 1-AA team has to do to make money. Play the cup cake at the swamp. Concerning the Fiesta Bowl, it was super entertaining game. The game had ups and downs. LSU was the better team and the difference was their D'line. #90. I was yelling at the TV he needed to go into the NFL at half time and not play the 2nd half. LOL. LSU Qb played like a all pro NFL qb. After he got squashed on the INT-pic6 he really was a warrior and came back and played great. I had heard he wasn't that good. I didn't see that. He was great. LSU had way better athletes and it showed. I'm proud of my UCF Knights on competing with them and making it a game. Shows UCF is on an upward trajectory. 2019 they should be better although we are losing 21 seniors. (knock on wood). Think about it, pretty much everyone on LSU is a 4 or 5 star recruit. Top in the nation athletes. UCF is all 2 or 3 star recruits. McKenzie Milton was a 2 star recruit. Darriel Mack UCF back qb was a 3 star recruit. UCF is of course the underdog in all of this. Plus the money difference is significant. The media coverage also leans against UCF. Thus, with UCF competing with the mighty SEC is remarkable. Now that the winning streak is over I strangely feel ok with it. Clemson vs Bama should be a pretty good matchup for the NC. |

I think you need to move this discussion to the Natl Enquirer section. This is clearly an issue of religion to some and seems to rely more on faith than reason. My one and only point all year is that UCF fans (which I consider myself to be, albeit second to the Gators) need to be satisfied with the progress they have made and not allow themselves to be deluded into believing they are NC contenders solely because they are undefeated. Strength of schedule matters; and, for whatever reason (and, no, that does not include "conspiracy"), UCF's SOS is subpar. When the Gators played Nebraska in the Sugar Bowl in 1973 (and lost 17-13), I was as happy as I have ever been (not happier, as happy) with a Gator game. It showed they were on a path to better things. Same thing this year with their win in the Peach. UCF fans would benefit with a dose of perspective.

Notre Dame was undefeated this year and didn't even play a conference championship game. Somehow they get in though and laid a big fat egg. Not even competitive. Yet they were undefeated and their strength of schedule was better. So, what did strength of schedule do for them? Plus I showed you earlier comparative scores where as the same team UCF wiped the map with and notre dame struggled with. Notre Dame was a paper tiger and got in due to they are Notre Dame and have a big fan base. UCF was undefeated with a weaker SOS but was competitive in their bowl game with a pretty good LSU team. So the proof of SOS, at least to me, doesn't say anything. UCF was a better team than Notre Dame.
Regardless, you are the one that is carrying on about it and it seems like UCF success has really bothered you. Thanks for keeping little ole UCF in the conversation. Glad my team has made it to 'big boy' football. UCF will be back in 2019 even bigger and stronger. 2nd year coach Heupel will be that much better. Of course, it all can fall flat on its face as well. And, yes it is just entertainment. Garcia you have a real I-told-you-so attitude. But, you aren't telling us anything we don't already know. Have a great day. I gotta hit the hay, New Year Eve party and all day football has me super tired. This Georgia-Texas game currently on has been pretty good. I cant be more excited with the retiring of Mark Richt and the hiring of Manny Diaz. Possible Offensive coordinators consist of Larry Fedora, Kendal Briles, Rob Chudzinski, Ken Dorsey. It seems Manny favors Fedora so far. Fedora coached Marquis Williams and Mitchell Trubisky while at NC. Great O coordinator. Losing Kingsbury to USC sucksss! He would have been the perfect fit at Miami.

Interesting Georgia and Florida tied. Georgia beat Florida and has one extra win.
Clemson really thumped Bama last night. All year we heard how Bama was unbeatable. Well, glad they got to settle it on the field. They could really expand the playoff and make it work. There was a lot of down time and mean-nothing-bowls that could have been a Quarter-Final. 8 team playoff. Maybe we will see it some day. |

OK, so Clemson's ass-whipping of Alabama put Clemson's ass-whipping of Notre Dame in perspective, but #5 is still pretty generous for ND.
But Texas beats Georgia, and winds up behind them? I thought this was supposed to reflect team quality as of this week, not some averaged resume of their full body of work. I do not understand... If not an expanded playoff, then the non-CFP bowl games should pit #5 against #6, #7 vs #8, #9 vs #10, etc... |

Also, Florida beat LSU but LSU ranked higher. Beating UCF moved them from #13 to #6 ???
Also, UCF now has a 'quality loss' against LSU. Should we have moved up? They do that in the regular season. Thus, how stupid basing a playoff on people's perceptions. So dumb. Whatever. Some interesting insights in this ESPN segment, including Paul Finebaum being humble.
The ESPN segment points out that, although the sports world at large has considered this the Alabama era, perhaps it has really been the Clemson era since the CFP playoff system began. One reason I favor an expanded playoff is simply because Nick Saban opposes it. With Georgia and Alabama losing to non-SEC teams, it suggests maybe the entire SEC was overrated this year. If you use the SEC in general as a reference to rank other teams, you bias the entire ranking process. |

Also, like i mentioned before Ohio State being left out of the CFP two years in a row after winning the Big 10 prob has people asking questions. Big 10 is a rich and powerful conference and highly influential. If they start making a splash then it gets changed to 8 teams.
