I bought one at Lowes. Lying on the roof (Sat Bch, 1-story), it got NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox (2,6,9,3) and a bunch of the independents. In the attic, it lost Ch2 (NBC) but I might try to re-aim it the perfect direction over the holidays, if the attic is cool enough. If you mount it on a mast 20' up, that should be enough. I think the antenna was around $59.
Dingpatch posted a thread 1-2 years ago with a homemade antenna that was working great from his location (a tiny tad closer to Orlando) but I can't find it at the moment. Edited: 11/24/2019 at 03:07 PM by RegularJoe |

I have Sling and Netflix through the Firestick and get a zillion channels for $40 a month. Basically, the same stuff I got thru Spectrum for 1/3rd the cost.

I have tried Hulu & now using Youtube TV. I like Youtube TV the best so far, but it's missing the History Channel & A&E, but has all the live TV channels. Edited: 11/25/2019 at 06:00 AM by TATTOO74 |

Yes, Sling gets you live TV, but not the local broadcast TV stations; you still need an antenna for the 4 majors (NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox). Sports packages are OK, hit or miss.

Sling blue has local Fox and as far as sports, they are actually kinda loaded. NFL Red Zone, MLB channels, NHL channels, Stadium (college football right now), NBC sports, Fox sports 1 and 2, a Bein sports channel, a rodeo/horse channel, fishing network, two hunting channels, the Golf Channel and a bunch of individual NBA channels. No ESPN, but I'm not sure they show sports anymore.

Don't forget Amazon Prime.
Between the video, the music and the free shipping, it's a hell of a deal. Some of the best shows lately are by Amazon. If you are into documentaries, they have way more content than Netflix. I'd say I watch Prime 90% of the time over Netflix. Their "customers also watched" feature on each title really helps you find more things to watch, unlike Netflix which just seems to try and fool you into thinking they've added content when they barely ever do. Plus I hate how you can't just browse Netflix titles in peace- they always start streaming the trailer for the title, and you can't turn that %^$&* off- so annoying. Not ditching Netflix, but watching it less and less. If I had to pick just one streaming service, it would be Amazon hands down. Edited: 11/26/2019 at 07:33 PM by paddleout |

Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? I race through shit just to avoid it. I have Prime too. I also get free Disney through my unlimited Verizon plan. WAAAYYY more tv than I will ever need. ------------------------- I was right. |

Ripper,
But, that "window" antenna is "marginal" and only really works good when you are in an optimal location. When I dropped Speculum I initially had one of those mounted in the house about 12 feet up and it had an amplifier. Reception for me was rather sketchy. Oh and, I forgot to add for general shits-and-giggles, even a "best" antenna may not do the job if your TV has a crappy "digital amplifier"! Off of the good antenna up in the atic, the living room 4K Samsung has no problems at all. But, the older 21 inch 1080HD Visio in the kitchen uses the same antenna but goes spaz all the time with WFTV (9) and does not get WESH (2) at all. ------------------------- Dora Hates You Edited: 11/28/2019 at 06:08 AM by dingpatch |

Ripper I have a U Must Have Antenna (corny) and there are bunches of them n the internet for round $20. My friend gave it to me. It works well and the range has to be 35 miles to Bithlow. One of the components says Bose on it.

Does anyone else have issues with planes interfering with the signal? Every plane taking off or landing using the flight path over the barrier island causes 10-30 secs of scramble and sometimes just reduces the channel to "no signal" It comes back but with the increase of air travel into MLB coming, I foresee continuous scrambling occurring Day and night.

"Aircraft Interference" is a new one on me but, , , , then again, "digital" broadcasting is not the same as the old analog system.
Way-back-when, in SPS, when the Air Force still had the radar domes on A1A at the end of Pineda, , , , your TV would always pick up a "zzzip, zzzip" as the radar rotated. ------------------------- Dora Hates You |

I started with the array like dingpatch. My brother in law dubbed it "the cockroach" lol. I put a reflective backing on it but it enhanced some and blocked others.
I then built a 36" gray- hoverman with copper wire I had. It has been great! Both are in the attic. The key with any of the antennas is to take it up on ther roof "outside " then run the channel scanner. That way you know that is "the best" you can get. You may lose a couple when you place it in the attic. Also there is a website that you can find towers to determine the best angle for your antenna array. ------------------------- Time and tide wait for no one.....
