This is a excellent explanation of the respiratory signature

There were a few groups nose to ass on Rockledge Drive over the last few days. Seemed like a bad idea.

I think I'll be looking for empty hiking trails now.

If you look at the numbers around the world today, it really looks like the biggest factor in how hard you will be hit lies in your ability to spread out or lack thereof. There is a good chance I will change my mind before all this is over but the countries being hit the hardest aren't the poorest. I completely understand that they might just not be hit hard YET. Densely populated cities, states, and countries are getting hit pretty hard.

I understand herd immunity doesn't work very well.

Given that I can smell cigarette smoke from a closed vehicle 5 car lengths ahead of me, it would not surprise me if an aerosolized virus particle can do the same.
However, the particle density should be a lot less than a smoker's exhalation. I'm not worried on the bike or jogging trails though, since I can't keep up with anyone. |

Yeah, I was bike commuting almost every day (and weekends) to work. Not anymore. Even though I go solo, the constant stream of people walking the 192 causeway when I came home with the SE afternoon seabreeze was enough to make me stop.

If you stopped working weekends, you could reduce your cycling exposure by 28% EG Cswy is a ghost town when I walk/jog, but that's 9-10pm. |

I was thinking this exact same thing yesterday as I was at a traffic light and could smell the cig the person in front of me was smoking in their car. I guess keep your recycle a/c button on.. |

Yes, of course density exacerbates fast spread and fast spread means more deaths per capita due to care shortages.
Yet there are other factors in play as we saw in Italy. In a few months we can get a breakdown. |

You are of course right.
I had meant herd immunity won the hard way. |

I also want to point out that (duh) there are no silver bullets for this disease. There's no special shortcut, cure or knowledge until it's well vetted by research.
In short, be skeptical of specious claims and follow the WIDELY ACCEPTED RECOMMENDATIONS. |

Yes. If it worked in other parts in the world, it should work here...right? ------------------------- I was right. |

One would think.
Though our testing capacity still apparently lags. |

I hear they are cutting federal funding for testing.
