It is strange that the most active part of the 2ndlight forums is the NSR and all the crap politics talk.

I haven't clicked on that part of the forum in years and after skimming it, I'm curious on everyone elses take.

Also some forum names over there I've never seen post in the surf, for sale, fishing etc.

I'm one of the lead idiots and have no clue why so many people tune in.

It certainly isn't to learn anything. Quiet reality "TV" for work I guess.

Everyone praise t-birds suggestion back in 1999'sh, or later, forget, to branch off a Non Surfing Related forum. It has worked to keep the political & religion and other stuff off the surfing forum!

True, we used to argue policy, now we argue against the orange goof. A racism, as we still do. They hated the black president.

It's a mad house down there. I got bored one week and started lurking down there. I left a comment on a NFL thread and within a minute it was buried by two pages of comments and fifteen other threads.. I am assuming most those people commenting are retired, or jobs definitely are not getting done.

Everyone's got an opinion nowadays, some feel stronger about them more than others. Those guys who berate each other at NSR probably surf next to each other peacefully and not even know it. I always remind myself to keep my politics to myself, I'm not gonna change anyone's mind no matter how much we argue.

For me, it is mostly for entertainment, to exchange ideas, and to banter a bit.

Indeed I do or have surfed with quite a few of those who post on NSR. Sometimes we know directly that we are on the forums, sometimes not and only hear secondhand. This is an awesome local surf forum and i haven't experienced any animosity in the water from anything I've posted.
It is a great community.

I don't post so munch in the surfing forum anymore because I just surf for fun, using my old boards, and am not into all the new stuff. So i guess i am in a rut, but a happy place rut with my surfing.

Nah, you just know the boards you like. My problem is I buy a bunch of boards, don't like any of them but then I find the one that is magic for me and I just beat the hell out of it until it is rendered useless.

you are kinda right.

My old diffenderfer is getting pretty tired but i still use it, and i have a Channin Tommy Maus LB that is still a great ride. Honestly, though Tom Neilsons are what i have been using for years - no drama boards and love the old style medallion Creative Visions logo.

I'm not surfing that aggressively any longer so a board lasts me a long time.
One advantage of age, i guess. Ha!

So any chance you want to part with any those old obsolete non Neilson boards? Ha ha.

Not really. It would be like selling a friend.

I know. I regret selling a board almost every time.

I think the NSR is funny and there is some very creative stuff on there. Of course there are your racists, haters, pimps, and scallywags and such. The surf forum is tragically boring. Surfers by and large are funny as $hit but the surf forum on this site is like a coroners convention. Which is probably wrong because they have jokes to die for.

NSR is for entertainment purposes only.

I think people see NSR and think it's all fighting. But really, there's even more comedy there.

I participate in NSR mostly for the jokes. To read them and make them. But that's me. I go to NSR for the comedy and stay for the fighting and namecalling.

Some of the funniest shit I've ever seen was on NSR- I've literally laughed out loud many times.

But it's an acquired taste.

For an example, check out Cole's ingeniously hilarious replies on the first page of the now-infamous "It's Over." Thread

"Did you spring from the bed and slam into the wall this AM? "

"Did the rolling pin knots finally join together and steal your already limited mental capacity?

This certainly isn't worth a legitimate reply. "

It's zingers like those that make me keep coming back..

So if you are a surfer I wish you the prosperity that allows you more time to pursue the salt water dream, and the true happiness that comes from warm water, clean waves and the companionship of your fellow surfers. If you are an internet troll just spewing bs then f off.
