We need a new witch to hunt. We found the old one. He admitted to everything and his coven said a little witchcraft is bad but it's no reason to remove the witch. Now the witch is stronger because he knows a little witchcraft is ok and more is better. Especially when this topic came up in the late 1700s, and people were "woke" enough to know that a true democracy only leads to the "tyranny of the majority" and will lead to oppression of the minority...which flies in the face of true independence.
