If we are really going change things, we need to come together. One of the biggest gripes I have is the tendency to label anything/everything between people with different skin tone as 'racist' by default. Its one thing when it absolutely and undeniable *is* racist, but the label gets applied far too often where it shouldn't. All this does is mask actual, real, racism and alienate people. Telling lighter skinned people that they are automatically racists or labeling them as privileged really serves no purpose as it generally shuts down discourse, conversation, and willingness to come to any kind of an understanding. If you think about it, being called 'racist' is literally about the worse thing you can call someone or be called by someone. Even without any evidence or shred of truth it is generally automatic condemnation in the court of public opinion. I suppose some people will call me a racist just for making a comment like that because I happen to have lighter skin tone than many, but whatever, it validates the point for me when they do.
