Vote for guys like Henry Cuellar? The Dems have utterly failed to do anything to protect women's reproductive rights.

They could have codified Roe with legislation any number of times when they had control, but they didn't because part of their standard electoral strategy is to tell people "you better vote for us or else..."

A truly historic day in the interpretation of stare decisis. Not one precedent over ruler but two. This create a patchwork of states that ban abortion and criminalize anyone who travels to get a legal abortion. The whole idea of the principle of comity and preemption is thrown out the window.

Went to CR for dental work back in '13 and the price difference more than paid for my 2 week surf vaca with the wife - incl airfares, lodging, food and suv rental.. results were excellent with absolutely no probs since..

Friends who has the same procedures done up here - not so much luck..

Unfortunately many women will not have 2 red cents to rub together, or have someone to cover for them while they are absent..

The only reason all of this is even happening is because Mississippi banned abortions after 15 weeks, which is already more lenient than all but a few countries in Europe, the Mississippi governor vetoed it, then the Mississippi legislature overrode the governor, then the ACLU and others took it to the Supreme Court.

If you want to blame someone for Roe v Wade being overturned then blame the Mississippi governor and the ACLU. Roe v Wade was and always has been fragile and kind of a shit ruling but it was there. The ACLU knew that there was a very real possibility that all this would happen when they challenged the Mississippi law.

Most of the lefties here seem to think that Europe does everything right and we do everything wrong.

Scroll down to the map of Europe. The majority of the countries ban abortions past 15 weeks because they aren't barbarians.

If this was the case, the SCOTUS would have backed the 15 week law and left Roe v Wade alone. They didn't, the Conservative majority went a step further and tossed it all to the curb.

Your entire point is moot, considering more than half the states are seeking an outright ban on all abortion.

They have never been anything more that a jury of judges, and everyone of them has preconceived notions of right and wrong - like we all do..

There definitely should be very short term limits (10 year or less) limits so that they more closely reflect the morals of the current majority of voters..

Just the fact that the senate, which is rooted in disproportional representation, has anything to do with their appointment is morally corrupt to the core... As is the president who appoints them being elected through the again disproportionate electoral college..

The voting public has not realized that what is really going on and that any current elections of the local judiciary is only a harbinger of things to come.

Having then run as non partisan makes the choice harder since you have to dig real deep as to what side they are on politically.. Literally takes lots of time.

Signs like them being (prior) members of the federalist society etc are harder to uncover - and easy to cover over.. Also their opinions and rulings..

It sounds like you are thinking that it is the job of the Supreme Court to legislate. We have a separate branch of government responsible for that. The Supreme Court is there to interpret the constitution. Abortion isn't mentioned in the constitution. It really isn't in their charter to rule on it, so they kicked it back to the states.

The court has a right and an obligation to correct screwed up decisions that former SCOTUS judges made.

What SCOTUS determined was the Constitutionality of abortion.

It's not a Federal decision/Law to make.

Maybe they'll be ok with it in SD, maybe they won't. At least the voters there will have a say in it, as they should. Mind you, since there are not many progs in SD, I am sure that they will understand that if some woman does not want to bear the child of a rapist, she can simply go to another state to get it's life terminated. SD shares a border with Minn. I doubt Minn. will ban abortions. The progs won't, of course, understand that. But who cares about them?

I grew up in a RC family, went to RC schools until I was 18, in a very RC country - and share both Pelosi's & Biden's views fully...

I was originally staunchly 'anti' until i was in my late 30's and my views have morphed to 'pro'.

Def don't think that abortion is 'good' and pity any woman who is even put in the position of even having to consider, want or have to make a 'choice', and dealing with the repercussions of having that choice - either way - abortion or having the child..

What gets me is the sheer hypocriacy of men who I know very closely, being anti now when back then was primarily their choice.

THEY choose to make arranging, paying for and assisting in the decision largely because it would affect THEIR lives 'negatively.. Now?

Def think that a woman having late term abortions are bad, especially for the woman long term mentally and physically, and many women are put in that position due to circumstances beyond their control - sometimes by the actions of the man who got her pregnant in the first place..

What is 'late term' is debatable.. IMO third tri is def 'bad', but that does not mean that I think it should be outlawed outright- even in 3rd tri.

My cousin recently brought her first baby to term knowing finding out late 2nd tri that it would have problems - short and long term.. It did have, and only lasted a week or so.. She has since had another healthy baby.. All is well.. I don't think that she considered an abortion (being RC and all), but others could have made the decision past the 15 (?) week mark - for example.. Just saying..

These types of cases are not 'rare' by any means.. My sister has 2 grands that also have physical deformity 'issues'.. Thank god not 'life threatening', but relatively significant IMO... Many operations later and things are 'better', but will never be 'normal' and people will always be staring at them.. They have decided to not have any more, but.. just saying...

The man involved in this goes 'unpunished' here? Seems 'fair' right? The men have no responsibility here?

DNA can verify who the father is and child support accessed accordingly - but millions of dead beat dads out there, that is small comfort to the woman who was prevented from having an abortion knowing the personality of the man who got her pregnant..

That's between a woman and her health care providers. But telehealth and pharmaceutical abortions should be sufficient for most woman.

Now for a women how finds out late in pregnancy that her baby has a deformity that's incompatible with life, or that her life would be in danger during childbirth, then we're going to have to get her to someplace they can provide the care she needs. Plenty of companies are implementing that workplace benefit as we speak.

When a baby dies while still in the womb, this may also be called fetal loss. A doctor may deliver the baby by giving you medicine to start labour. Or you may have a surgical procedure called D&E (dilation and evacuation). The loss of a baby is devastating and very hard to accept.

The other side is many women abuse that and want to end the pregnancy out of convenience, money, life style etc. there needs to be a way to filter. Late term abortions represent less than 1% of all abortions and are difficult and costly, and in nearly all cases due to maternal health risk or fetal anomaly. Roe had limits already based on viability and other factors, but now because of the radical christian court, they have or will have shortly total bans in about 20 states, so not much "middle ground".

And this means women who cannot travel, or are prevented from traveling by state forces, will either die or have to give birth to dead or profoundly disabled children (who if they survive I think they should be dropped off on the steps of the state capitols).

This is the middle ground. The left wants to be able to abort babies until they are a year old or so and kick puppies off of bridges. The right would like to ban it all outright. We are looking at the middle ground. When the left made the push that basically anyone and everyone who believed that safe, legal, and rare was no longer in their camp and they not only wanted abortion tolerated but they wanted it celebrated, they lost a lot of people and opened the door for people to feel good about overturning Roe.

So, at this point, we have no choice but to determine when "Murder" is not murder??!!??

And again, the base premiss of the original Roe ruling was based upon "privacy". So, again, if I kill somebody in the "privacy" of my own home, that it not murder?!?!?!

Let them go across state lines to obtain an abortion. Just dont let them return unless they also agree to sterilization. They are baby killers, why would anyone fighting for that show their face or let their identity be known?

Brandy Bottone, 32, of Plano, was pulled over June 29 after she drove in an HOV lane, or high-occupancy vehicle land, NBC-Dallas Fort Worth reported. Bottone was stopped by the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, which was looking for drivers violating the HOV lane rules.

When a sheriff's deputy told Bottone about the rule, she said she did, in fact, have a second occupant in her car - her unborn baby.

"I pointed to my stomach and said, 'My baby girl is right here. She is a person,'"
