Finally beat my old PB of 9.7lbs with this 10.5 crappy pic but tried to attach!!!
It was a hair under 30" and was tough to get in the net, so I have since bought a bigger one lol. Been hunting for a big fish for long time, which can be frustrating because I usually get skunked. I have found my bigger flounder are in very shallow water near very deep water, on higher tides, this was along the mayport jetty in Jacksonville up in the rocks, also got two five pounders after and the bit shut off as the tide switched. Still some mullet heading south also should start seeing some pompano! ------------------------- I troll 2L.com to be a better person in real life Edited: 11/02/2020 at 08:40 AM by stokedpanda |

NICE! Thats prob twice the size of my best.... you get him yesterday? Fullmoon rt before a strong front, they were prob chewin this weekend. I got it two weeks ago right before the flounder pounder tournament where a 7.5lb won a couple grand! haha I got skunked yesterday thought it was going to be hot but struck out. I would bet the jetties bridges and docks in your area are holding- also I get a LOT more bites in clean water, with "clean" being relative for our area of course, but if it is super silty/muddy I will move lol ------------------------- I troll 2L.com to be a better person in real life Edited: 11/02/2020 at 08:53 AM by stokedpanda |

I pulled off a doormat last night.... Thought I was snagged on oysters.... then pulled in my saltwater assassin almost bit in half Flounder seriously suck. I can boat a 25 pound grouper from 175 feet of water, but can't manage a flounder that's sitting at my feet. |

I've literally never caught a flounder and have put in many hours trying to catch them. I once sat with a buddy at the inlet for prob 4 hours and watched him reel in four flounder to my ZERO. Then the next day he went with someone else and that guy standing on same rock I was casting from landed a ten pounder.. I just gave up after hearing that. |

Nope, wasn't me. It's too damn hot and weird at Inlet for me to hit it up right now.
Snook are weird, Tarpon aren't there and the weeds are so hit and miss it's enough to make me want to jump in and drift out to sea. |

when I feel a bite, I try to lightly apply pressure "imagine just lifting their head" and lower it back down. If they bit the back half or grabbed the bait partially usually you will feel them thump/tap it again as they fully inhale it. Once they do that they usually have it and get tight and set the hook. If you just keep dragging they will often just clamp down on whatever piece of the biat they have often all the way to the boat. Also if you get a bite and they swim off quick with it, usually thats a sign of other fish in the area WORK THAT AREA HARD! Last week I had one break me off in the rocks, thought it was a toad fish, but caught it about 30 mins later with my leader and hook......strange fish indeed!

I fished the inlet friday and saturday night. Tide was going out, not much bait or action friday on the south tip to the bridge I got skunked. Saturday me and my brother each got one oversized throwing plugs on the southside but further west, also saw some mullet back there not thick but little schools of a dozen or so here and there.

Monday night was probably the time to hit it when the front changed the pressure.

Monday night was probably the time to hit it when the front changed the pressure. my inlet strategy is, go to the inlet whenever I can(gave up on trying to catch a specific tide), and cast until my arms fall off LOL. luckily the bugs were not too bad ------------------------- I troll 2L.com to be a better person in real life Edited: 12/02/2020 at 06:31 AM by stokedpanda |

For years I had been targeting the days before a cold front passes (south east to west winds) and did pretty well, then I happened to be bored and went for flounder in the crisp blue sky, with the wind out of the north at 25 knots. No flounder, but the place went bonkers an hour before dark with the snook in full frenzy mode. Every cast was a missed strike or a hooked fish. Bucktail, swim bait, lure, it didn't matter, they were on it. 35 years of being one day too early. lol
