Went to north side of Vero today and water clarity was awesome. It was probally 30 to 40 feet about 100 yards offshore. Got my limit of lobster, with a 10 pounder and all others between 3 and 7 pounds. Get em while you can boys! Will upload pics when i can.

How deep did it get 100 yards offshore? Was the current ripping you north?

Yeah P. tied the knot last year 11/20, its been a great year. I hope you're doing well, I saw that Skip broke his hand, he was in physical therapy. I blew my shoulder out last month, that why I saw him there. well good talking with ya, take care....

We went out today as it will probally not be any good for a while. Vero beach a few miles south of Sr-60 not to clear , maybe 3-5 feet. We got six from one to five pounds in about an hour as I had to work in the afternoon. Cloudy and glassy but not very clear. Oh well, always another day, hopefully soon!

We'll it's been 2 months of no scuba due to dirty, choppy slop. Today was a pretty fair day for clarity about ten feet, cold though. Saw lots of schools of Pompano. We got five lobster on one tank in about 10 feet of H2O and left. Biggest about 5 lbs. Maybe this upcoming week the weather will cooperate.

Well the season has ended, and what a season it was! 42 lobsters over ten pounds were caught and over 200 between 3 and ten lbs. It's gonna be hard to beat that next season. We'll do our best and see what happens!

Did anyone else see the Surfrider Foundation link about a lobster "poacher" trying to hide spiny things from the warden by stuffing them down his "drawers?"

http://www.signonsandiego.com/...999-1s11outdoors.html

The odd thing about this story is that his money fine was only $500 after now four separate arrests. They said he had chronic disregard for the lobster laws, but only $500 after four arrests? I think they would ring us up over here on the east coast for a lot more moola than that...

We went out yesterday and today from the park by the UDT Seal museum in the canoe. The water was crystal clear, about 40 ft viz. Diver Doug pulled out 12 both days, all between 3 and 10 lbs. Needless to say the freezer is overflowing! Hopefully the boat will be running soon, as i am tired of paddeling the canoe after him!
It might be good later in the week if the wind dies!

Drove down to Wabasso today to check vis. Not good at all. If you want to beach dive, you will probably need to go south of Stuart. Good luck.

Well Doug, Firesurfer and I hit again today. Vis was maybe a couple of ft. Yesterday was freakin beautiful compared to today. I got a few shorts, Doug ended up with 8 keepers. On the way out we found this little guy face down in the water near the boat ramp in Ft Pierce. We scooped him up then put him in some bushes hoping he might be there when we came back in. He wasn't looking to good when we left him but we had to go. He was there when we got back and was looking a little more alert. so we grabbed him again with little resistance offered. Ended up taking him to Florida Wildlife hospital in Melbourne. His right looked pretty messed up. They said it was an Eastern Screech owl. He was pretty cool just chillin in the box. I'll call in a few days to see if he makes it.

All I see is 3-4 feet, so as long as it is a long period glassy swell it should not do too much damage! Even if it does I'll surf! We got plenty of lobster to eat for a week or so!

Thanks for the reports. What depth are you in? I figured the surge would have been pretty bad on the beach so we went out to Bethal on Saturday. Vis was 10ft very few bugs saw some carnage of legs and antenna. Minimal thermo so thats good.

Went out today with Diver Doug. Water was very warm and clear. Got 12 BIG lobster. He got a 14 lber, 12.5 lber, 11 lber, and a bunch of 10 lbers all totaling up to 96 pounds. Could hardly carry the cooler. Here is a couple of pics of the 14 and 12.5 lber.

Are you actually weighing them? Or are you guesstimating? Just asking because we got one that looks as big as the "14#er" and it was 10lbs... not trying to be a jerk, I am just wondering if you weighed it...

Yowsers! We were at a reef just offshore of vero over the weekend and the two guys diving couldn't find any bugs. Looks like we were in the wrong spot!

We have a baby scale that is very accurate that we weigh them on. Any way we got out today and got another 18 with 10 lber being the largest. Get them while you can. The water was top to bottom clear!

???? Can you explain in better detail. I went lobstering once in the mid 90's off vero beach. A buddy of mine had a small boat we launched off the beach. We came across a nice size lobster and tried to get it by hand but that thing was STRONG and FAST!!!! I understand if you dont want to give your secret away, but never could figure out how to catch one......any info would be appreciated.

Doug just works the bug out with the stick then grabs it by the base of the antenna. You got to be quick and get the base or it'll end up snapping off.

Never tried that as they fight too much. If you put them up against your body as you bring up the large ones, cause they don't fit in any bag, they wrap their legs around you and grab on and stop fighting. That is secret #2, I won't tell you # 1, cause I don't want you to get hurt! Have fun!

Be careful grabbing those big ones.

They do bite, right through gloves and fingers.

Beautiful day on and under the water. Went out in canoe off beach just north of Wabasso. Diver doug scored with 9 lobster. The largest was 10 lbs next was 9.5, the total was 62 lbs, none were under 6 lbs. Here's the pick of the two largest.

Went out today, before the front came, on a canoe dive from just south of Wabasso at Johns island. Diver Doug got 12 large ones with 10 lber largest. I caught a few spanish mackeral and some large blues to top it off. Water actually was 2 degrees warmer than last time. Lots of lobster down there.

Went out today with Diver Doug. We went in the canoe from the UDT park in Ft. Pierce, The water was a staggering 55 degrees and air temp at 7:15 am was 39. Needless to say we froze, but it was worth it for the cooler full of lobster. We got 12 with a 6 lber the largest. Not a great day , but still worth it. Hopefully it doesn't get any colder!

We went out yesterday and today in the boat from Ft pierce inlet. the water was super clear, about 40-50 foot viz inshore. There were 3 of us and we got our 18 lobsters both days. The largest was 10 lb and most were in the 4-7 lb range. Should be good the next two days. Oh yeah, the water warmed up from the last dive from 54 to 66.7, and it felt a whole lot better! Get em while you can!

I may be wrong but it's my understanding that only "fishing" for bottom fish is closed as they are trying to prevent red snapper by catch. You can still shoot grouper and anything else that's usually legal to shoot. Just can't shoot snappers.

I actually spent a 1/2 hr on the phone with FWC today. They were very cooperative but really didn't know what was going on. The final word was that nothing has passed yet, just approved as far as the no fishing stuff, and that spearfishing would not be effected. So sling them up boys!

Viz the last two days was 5-10 feet. We both got our limit on lobster and got a few mangrove snapper for dinner. Water is chilly at about 62, but not as bad as last year! Be safe out there as there are a lot of big sharks hanging at Wabasso. Also heard about some poachers, not cool, to easy to get in trouble and not worth the consequences!

had some beautiful viz on Saturday.  Normal area off Vero that produces for me was devoid of any bugs.  Saw a few shorts and that was it.  Got our limit a few weeks earlier in the same area and they were very plentiful.  Any other reports from the beach?  Little buggers are unpredictable.  As much searching as I did on Saturday to not see any good ones has me wondering if they moved out deeper.
