Good morning,
I have 3 mature palms I need to transplant for some yard makeover work. A picabeen, alexander and adonidia - none over 8 inches of trunk. I have read to dig a trench about 2 feet deep, about 2 feet away from the trunk all the way around. Then the palm "should" push over and you can cut the root ball. I would love to hear from anyone with experience to give some guidance. Thanks.

Archontophoenix and adonidia both transplant very easy. Can't kill them. Some palms to help transplant, you can root prune them first then wait 2 months to transplant. That way the side roots grow out before digging out. But, christmas and king palms are easily transplantable.

2 feet deep and 2 feet around sounds like pretty good advice. I'd water it some before so the dirt sticks together. But, I bet you could even dry root them and transplant them successfully.

Use Fertilome Root Stimulator from Sun Harbour. Works great on everything and if you use too much its doesn't appear to be an issue. I put it on everything as a tonic.
