Both papers discussed Cage's long career. The LA Times noted that the plot is based on real life at Palos Verdes and has this kindly paragraph:

Sun and sea are in every frame. Golden light dapples on Cage's face. Aerial shots of water are used as scene wipes and their crashing noise underscores his psychic distress. Radek Ladczuk's psychedelic camerawork loves dramatic zooms and lenses that make bodies blend and distort, underscoring how easily someone can slide from comfortable to wretched, and the grandly mystical soundtrack by François Tétaz is wonderful, even if it uses enough wind chimes to summon Poseidon.

This is the first I've heard of this movie. After googlin' says it was released in 2024 but is now in movie theaters.

From a friend who has seen it after I sent him the trailer:

"It totally sucked! We're big fans of Nicolas Cage and we're disappointed. On an unrelated note, that theater in Satellite is great"

Cage is hit and miss for me and his last few films were kinda hard to watch.
Looking at the trailer on this one I have no interest in making any effort to see it.

Movie options here in Vero are a bit limited. Sometimes worth a drive to somewhere else. Fla. Surf Film Festival (Daytona) and the Surf Museum's event (Cocoa Beach) are coming up. For Cage, I still like Moonstruck.

I'll give it a go when it makes it to free streaming.
