Todd Holland's Long Road to Recovery

Our longtime friend and Cocoa Beach resident, Todd Holland, a respected professional surfer and the friendly face behind School of Surf, experienced a serious accident recently. While working on a tree at his property, Todd fell nearly two stories from a ladder, resulting in significant injuries.

Todd sustained a broken neck, a broken back, multiple broken ribs, a fractured hip, a broken left arm, and a dislocated left elbow. He has already undergone several surgeries and is currently recovering in the ICU, dealing with considerable pain. Further medical procedures are expected.

At least he's alive and more or less repairable. I'm reminded of a guy in the Sarasota area whose yard is a botanical garden and plant nursery, with profitable plant sales a couple of times a year. He had a serious ladder injury, not nearly as bad as Holland's.

I can remember losing to him in the ESA contests in the 80's. He's my age, which means he's not as young as he used to be. God speed in that recovery.
