That's interesting, I've thought a lot about this topic in the past. Back in the 80s I tried those web gloves and discovered that you get shoulder fatigue easier with them than with not.

I think if you are paddling a distance it's best to have spacing on fingers, but when you need to dig hard like beat a wave and get under it you cup them close.
