Even in Costa Mesa, Calif., an online bodysurf-surf mat-paipo-handplane business seems a bit unlikely to work.  Sea Craft Supply Co.

On the other hand, if handplanes and paipos are in, and surf mats might be returning, how about sponges?  Encyclopedia of Surfing has a new entry for Mike Stewart.

While looking for something else, I spotted my comment on a new business, back in 2007. The link will take you to Yucca Fins. I sometimes wonder whether they're making money, but it's obviously a well-run business. Their fins have taken over their local beaches.
