Waves have been a bummer and I'm planning a May sojourn most likely to Ecuador (never surf tripped there.) Without revealing any secrets I thought it would be fun to go into the bank and think about some of the luckiest trips. The forecast isn't great here in FL, and I'd rather be lucky than good. I'll kick off; 1. Mundaka...got lucky with the waves and they have the best best ham 2. Off season Hawaii and had some minimally crowded Rocky lefts 3. Good sized direct north swell at Maria's, any of em Could also count backwards; 99. Food poisoning in Punta hermosa Peru, because I had to have street food after too many Cusquenias

4 to 6 foot Pavones at just past 200 degrees and no wind. When the tide came in, it started to make it around the corner.

Everything else just kinda blends together.

1) Spring on the North Shore - heavy crowds gone for the season, sand is in place, heaps of swell
2) East coast of OZ late fall and early winter - cyclone swell and right hand points with light weekday crowds
3) El Sal in early June - more right hand points

Had to turn down the opportunity to extend #1 into a summer in Indo, imagine that would've topped my list.

1) North Sumatra in Summer or Fall - Great waves, small crowds. Very expensive if you add in the time off work to the flights and boat price. Takes a looonnggg time to get there but worth it in the end. Bucket list for sure. 2) Central America in the Summer - Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica. Easy to get to and cheap. Crowds can spoil the vibe if you go to a heavily advertised place. 3) Caribbean in the Winter - Fickle but epic if you time it right. Wind can be an issue. Best for surgical strikes. The colder it is here, the bigger it is there.

Good lord, I had forgotten all about Rush and Garbonzos. 4 to 6 and perfect with just me and a buddy in the water. That ocean gets real creepy when the sun begins to set.
