My first wetsuit was a navy bell helmet suit with hot water ports. Wasn't conducive for flotation. Then I got a Bailey suit with, what seemed like, shag carpeting inside the legs. During that time, we had access to Barrier Island NC property while the condos were being built. The first building erected was the pool/hot tub. We'd surf the break over the dune, then run back and jump into the hot tub to get out of our gear. One day, I stood up and my legs swelled out 5 times the size, due to the hot water. My buddy's legs blew out. Apparently, the "carpet" was what kept mine from doing the same. We got to use that for 2 years.
