Ben Gravy was on hand and this bodyboarder was making good use of a usable stretch of beach. Youtube

There were overhead crunchers down the beach with tiny little shoulders. I wasn't much interested in crash & burn, there'd been better recently. Should have been some better stuff this afternoon, but I was at the dentist.

Vero occasionally performs, usually doesn't. Tuesday was the usual useless crunch. Some entertainment. The softboard in evidence was a substitute; the main one broke Monday. YouTube
I had a miserable time downloading the video clips. Time to get rid of iMovie. Then there was a Bloomberg news story to the effect that my camera company's doing badly enough that the president might consider selling it. Does anyone buy real cameras anymore?
South Beach is an oddity. It has no reef, other than a field of limestone boulders laid down as mitigation for burying real reefs. It's been growing seaward for years. Large amount of coarse shell fragments in the sand makes for a steep beach and shorebreak, steeper in summer. Riomar Reef to the north seems to develop extensive sandbars duriing fits of NE windswell, which creates something of a wave shadow, and often semi-fixed points for breaks and rip currents. Not that they amount to much.

Olympus. Relatively small and rain/dust resistant.

South Beach is a great place to shoot cause the action is so close. But in this case, way too close!

Replace turf grass with native plants that don't need irrigation and synthetic fertilizers or chemicals that can go into our waterways and ocean

There was one big long-period swell where South Beach went from plunging to surging. It was weird. SurferToday
