Satellite Beach city council voted 4-1 last week to send the City of Melbourne (who provides Satty's water) a memorandum expressing their request to stop the fluoridation.
One speaker (with a medical research background) pointed out that the only benefits of fluoridation arise from topical use (swishing in the mouth), and that it was not intended to be swallowed. She and another speaker pointed out the choice and informed-consent issue; i.e., you can always go to the dentist, buy toothpastes and mouthwashes containing fluoride if you want it, but once it's in your ice cubes, you really no longer have a choice. |
