Also 3' used to break a lot better in CB before the beach renourishment designs created the deep trough in between shore and the sandbar. Back when the bottom was more natural and on a 2-3' day you could still get much better rides even if LB most spots but you could still find plenty of spots where you could ride them all the way to shore. Now you hit the deep trench and the energy just dies. Hopefully it'll fill back in a bit this summer.

Our local CB bar was really fun for a couple of years, we even had a tiny point like wave on the 1 to 2 foot days, then poof, a week of strong southerly winds ended it all. Kinda fun over the last couple of days, even with the wind, so we might have a decent summer. ------------------------- I was right. Edited: 05/30/2020 at 05:08 PM by Cole |

My observation has been that in the renourishment era good sandbars are indeed possible in this area but not as frequent and more easily disturbed than in in the 'good old days'. In general it appears that weather events with lots of swell energy accompanied but strong longshore winds and currents tend to carve out the trough. Events with swell and wind energy from a more onshore direction tend to fill them back in.

my observation is: beach breaks change over the years & sometimes season to season.
