Details: https://news.fit.edu/campus/he...event-at-florida-tech/. Find out how the 1/2 cent tax is getting used. Hear about the "Restore Inflow Project". My quick 2 cents, if you pump clean ocean water into the Lagoon at Cocoa Beach, crappy water flows out Sebastian Inlet. No Bueno! I don't see anyone suggesting the reverse, that we pump crap water onto Cocoa Beach drawing clean water in through the Inlet Wonder why?

But, the "pump water out", get it back in through Sebastian, is generally a "no go" because the Lagoon system has been prone to be too salty lately.

After 30+ years of hearing "clean up the river/lagoon" efforts with observably zero results I have no faith in anything proposed or on the table.
Seems 100+ years after filling in and choking off natural flow it's irreversible without undertaking drastic engineering measures to restore that flow. Which would mean cutting inlets every 15/20 miles? No way is that getting paid for these days. That's my 1/2 cent.. ------------------------- Worst thing I ever read - "No tropical cyclones at this time" |

Does the increased flow back up and flood septic systems during storms or steep tidal changes? Lots of questions. Can they even be answered?

Anyone else go? Q&A was good but I had to leave too early. The Inflow presentation was a bit disappointing, "It's not flushing!", haha. At least, they've apparently heard the blowback from the idea of degrading central IRL or Sebastian Inlet with Banana River water. Cole - current study scale is so tiny that it's hard to imagine any effects much beyond the immediate site at Port Canaveral.
