I love the idea, but they are currently struggling to predict anything more than a few days out.

I understand about the time being a ways out. That is also why i put the question marks. Made me wonder about what are they seeing. But just something to possibly have a hope for even if it ends up being not that big.

It's gone now off the forecast.

Finite systems of deterministic ordinary nonlinear differential equations may be designed to represent forced dissipative hydrodynamic flow. Solutions of these equations can be identified with trajectories in phase space. For those systems with bounded solutions, it is found that nonperiodic solutions are ordinarily unstable with respect to small modifications, so that slightly differing initial states can evolve into considerably different states. Systems with bounded solutions are shown to possess bounded numerical solutions.
A simple system representing cellular convection is solved numerically. All of the solutions are found to be unstable, and almost all of them are nonperiodic.
The feasibility of very-long-range weather prediction is examined in the light of these results

Few things in life are as unreliable as an Atlantic Coast, swell prediction that is 2 weeks out.

I may just be being super mega optimistic but the St. Augie report homie "Blue Sky Surf Report" says we may get something here this weekend maybe? :
"HOWEVER- note the HATTERAS BUOY's steady increase in the last 12 hrs-this morning over 4'/10secs from the NE headed generally in our direction-some of that could filter in as inconsistent lines into Friday,,...NOTE: check back for inevitable changes in the forecast ...." ------------------------- SK8 AND DESTROY Edited: 08/18/2022 at 06:27 AM by long_flaco1 |
