Weird that the Atlantic coast counties have just tropical storm warnings, while those inland (including Orange, Seminole, Osceola, and Lake) have hurricane warnings.
Track is looking a lot like Charley, which did a last-minute switch from its dotted line. Lots of people in Punta Gorda were surprised.
Charley was small-diameter and moved fast, remaining a hurricane until it exited around Daytona. Ian looks to be creeping-slow and have a very spread-out wind field.

CAT 4, 155 MPH, moving in a little sooner than they thought yesterday, and seems to have "dropped" a little bit more south. Forecast to possibly still be a CAT 1 over downtown O'ville tonight ! Was looking to be slower moving and "be here" for 36 hours, now looks like "only" 24 hours. LOTS more wind for Brevard than Charlie, 50-70 with higher gusts.

Last I checked last night, the track exited at Palm Coast. Now, New Smyrna.

Naples underwater downtown and Ft. Myers Beach is about 8ft under the Gulf of Mexico. My in-laws a couple miles inland from there off of Summerlin got hit with storm surge too and had to flee from the downstairs to an upstairs unit about 30 minutes ago.

The 4 pm report from the nws weather station at punta gorda airport was east wind at 86 with gust to 123. Not often you see speeds like that on land even that close to the coast.

The rain rate on the north side of the circulation now that it is in decay mode is insane. Step outside in Sebring right now and it is like having a fire hose pointed at you.

Tampa bay was bone dry before the storm. Looked like that show beneath the ocean. They warned everyone the water would be back with a vengeance. Tomorrow should bring the flood of pictures.
