Today, there's an energetic little storm off the Outer Banks and Virginia Beach. Windy, messy surf, unsurfable.

A solid north angle swell hitting Jupiter area since Saturday afternoon.
Still on this morning but wind didn't cooperate as well today.

Michael Lowry, Sept 15. The long lull was unprecedented.

I noticed the wind fields, too. The dirt/sand in Satellite will be heading south once again.

A quick stroll (Surf-Forecast is easier to do than Surfline) suggests that over the next week or a bi more, Brevard is as good as anywhere in Florida. A drive to the northern Outer Banks might be productive,
A peek at Orange Co., California, suggests it might have a big swell from a hurricane at the end of the month, but their analysis calls that extremely shaky.

The next hurricane, Oct 1 onward is looking interesting on Windy and Surfline.

Sunday evening, take a look at Windy's GFS model at the end of the period. GFS (not the European) creates a hurriane headed for Texas.

A reminder that hurricane season may be even better on the other side.

At Windy, ECMWF and GFS have utterly different scenarios, I doubt that either is very accurate for Oct 1-6, but if something like the curent GFS happens, it'll be a beach erosion horror from the Outer Banks north.

I'm getting that ya, it is projected to be an 'active season' but, for us it's kinda sorta good because the 'system' is set up right now for 'fish spinners'!? So hopefully we will not have any bad landfalls!?

At the far end, Oct 6, GFS has a hurricane right on top of central Cuba. European has nothing of the sort. I think best assessment is to only look at models for the next 5 to 7 dayus.

GFS puts a tropical storm or minimal hurricane on Hatteras next Monday, 29th? We're heading that way but maybe mountains first.

GFS and ECMWF have been so changeable for the Atlantic (not so much for a hurricane expected to make a big south swell for southern California) that I wouldn't put much trust in forecasts. Months ago, I snared a super cheap flight to California for Oct 1. As of now it's looking pretty sure that I'm two days late for the big swell.

Cocoa Beach has head high sets, but the wind is already on it at 8 AM. Plenty of size. Not the best form. Good enough to prevent boredom. Not worth taking PTO.
