I was pissed off that whole game. So many opportunities to put in Bortles but they never did. Henne was sacked like 8 times, threw interceptions, just totally sucked. Down by 30+ points and he is still in with the final minute. BULLSHIT. Put Bortles in....

I want to see Bortles play as much as anyone but with that horrendous O Line I'm fine with him staying on the bench.  10 sacks for Henne.  disgusting

Bortles would have escaped the sacks and plus can throw down field whereas they couldn't blitz as much. Henne sucks as usual. Can't extend plays and when he does he throws into double coverage. He sucks. Start Bortles!

In preseason I heard a commentor speak their mind on Bortles, it was along the lines of the O-Line being weak, Bortles being young, and the need to keep him healthy in the rebuilding year.  From those remarks, it doesnt sound like the Jag's will go far this year but will (hopefully) be better in 2015 with a more refined healthy NFL quarterback.  It'd hurt to see their first rounder be sidelined from the cumulation of10 sacks per game.

I'm used to watching Henne suck being a lifelong Dolphins fan.  I do agree Bortles would've escaped half those sacks but still, Jags OLine is god awful.  It's tough watching any of these Florida teams play.  Jax destroyed, Fins looks terrible in Buffalo, and the Bucs, lost with a 10 second run off to a 3rd string QB from the Rams!

CentroDavo ..... don't let your desire to see your boy play QB in the NFofL be a detriment to his long term success. His time will come, but throwing him to the wolfs this early (and with one of the worst O-lines in the league) is not wise.

The defense is not much better .... the Jagwads were down 21-zip mid way through the 2nd qtr, forcing them into a must throw "offense" ..... that gave the green light to the pass rush

Their D has given up 75 points in the past 6 quarters.  Bradley didn't name a starting QB against Indy.  I still believe it's Henne with the nod, but this does lead me to believe Bortles will be in by week 6.  Prior to this loss, Bradley would always say Henne was their guy this season.

I just want to see good football. Chad Henne is not good football.

Down 30 points late in the 4th would have been a perfect time to insert Bortles.

I guarantee it Blake is ready. The defense can't pass rush as much as Bortles can take off and run. Henne just sux. Didn't like him at the Dolphins either. He just does not have "it".

Bortles does. He was running for his life last year as well @UCF and won 12 games with his heroics. He could do the same at Jax if given a chance.

Colts at Jax next weekend.

Gene Frenette: Bortles was drafted to revive franchise, and Jaguars should play him

Check-down Chad is a horrible QB.

Dave, what's been the status of Storm?  He injured or did he just not dress for the first two games for another reason?

I'm not sure about Storm. Haven't seen him play.

But here is a Fantasy Football tip, put it all on the Colts Defense next week!

Jaguars will start Chad Henne against the Colts

Jaguars offensive line gave up 10 sacks, but how bad were they?

Come on Dave, this ain't the NCAA. Some other winning QB who could run at the college level didn't fare so well in the NFL, and I'm sure you remember who I'm talking about.

I'd love to see Bortles play as well, but I'm more interested in seeing him succeed.

One analyst's opinion piece I read about Tebow said no team wanted a player the fans were going to irrationally pressure management into playing.

The Jags will figure it out soon enough...

(Or maybe not, seeing as how they took Henne, lol...)

Agreed, Bortles would've avoided 6 of the 10

Bortles isn't a running QB. Nor, did I say NCAA is as good as the NFL. However, Bortles is excellent on escaping pressure and extending the play. We saw that on every jag preseason game. Bortles is way better than Henne at this point. He would do better. I watched every snap of Bortles preseason. He out performed Henne. 0-2 and Henne sucks. It is that obvious. Time to start Bortles. Tebow's problem was he couldn't hit the side of a barn. Bortles can. He extends plays and can throw it deep, short, and can scramble when he needs to. Henne can't do any of that. I'm not saying the Jags would be instantly a winner but it would be much better for the team and gives a chance to win. Down 30 points and you don't even give Bortles playing time? I don't get it. If you go read those jag fan forums, neither do they.

And, btw, the 2nd string QB is always the most popular player on a losing team !

Good points too. It might be demoralizing though to throw Blake in there with such shitty support, as well as risking injury. I think the Jags consider this a throwaway season as well as a rebuilding season. They have to lose a few more to cement their case for the QB switch, get to where no team views them as a threat, and position themselves for a high draft pick next year.

All on Gus.  Jax just lives in fear after the whole Gabbert thing.  Carr is out there, starting in place of a veteran.  Sure Bortles is going to have bad games, but let's get them out of the system this year and he'll have some experience under his belt for next.
